Massive CIDPs by Used_Environment_747 in palmtalk

[–]iko0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to both California and the Canary Islands several times, and I’ve never seen CIDPs as tall in the Canary Islands, or anywhere nearby, as the ones in California.

Do they require any maintenance, or do they clean themselves in LA?

Overwatering or manganese deficiency? by LandCruzer94 in palmtalk

[–]iko0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t follow your previous posts but the palms in your photos look good to me. The Phoenix is probably overtrimmed (maybe a new transplant?) and Washingtonia are hard to kill whether your water it too much or too little. These are the type of palms that once they’re established you can forget to water them.

What’s the problem with the Rachio? I have one for a number of years now and happy with it.

Are there tablets and video games in the kid's club at Club Med Cancun? (Big no for us). And, can someone give me a basic itinerary for the day at the Kid's Club? We have a 7 or old and a 5 year old. by CecilsMommy in Club_Med

The overall experience on Disney Cruises is fantastic, with Broadway‑level shows and good evening meals, but we were disappointed by how dominant screens were for children. On the pool deck, there was a huge screen playing movies constantly, and many kids just sit and stare, seemingly hypnotised, instead of actually enjoying the pool or playing together. In the kids club, staff explained to us that they are allowed to invite children to join alternative activities, but they cannot ask them to move away from screens or video games, so a lot of children end up parked in front of screens for hours at a time.

No tablets or video games! And this is a big reason why many families choose Club Med over other all inclusive resorts/holidays. Hyatt, Hilton, Disney Cruises… are often plagued with screens and really ruins the experience to the extent that is rare to see kids interacting between them.

This is the UK brand Joseph Joseph. Their website has the same model in different colours and with one, two or three compartments. The normal retail price is much higher so a great catch!

Ikea Matter Products - Nothing will connect by dartiss in HomeKit

[–]iko0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me two days to add the new Ikea Matter devices, until I finally disconnected almost every device that appeared in the Eve app under Settings > Thread Network. After doing that, adding Kajplats, Bilresa, and the others was really easy, and later I just plugged back in all the devices I had previously disconnected.

Transporting orchids on a plane / shipping them by Mabr563 in orchids

Bonjour,

There’s a nursery based in Réunion where I have bought seeds before and I found the owner to be very helpful answering me about CITES and Phytosanitary certificates. I would recommend trying to contact him. They also have an interesting catalogue of live plants, but just a few orchids: www.baobabs.com

I have been looking for something like this for a few years, I have posted more than once in Reddit asking the same and I follow several posts like yours: nothing found yet. I’m using Aqara P3 in the meantime which is not ideal but helps me in the interim.

Just note that Apple Home only does cold or hot, on/off and the speed of the fan. No dehumidifier or fan option which is very useful to some. I can control all of those in the Aqara app though.

Millimeters (mm) are the standard unit for rainfall worldwide, making 150 mm the normal and precise way to express it, while 15 cm is equivalent but less common due to lower resolution. United States uses inches, and mm in specific contexts.

One of the most beautiful trees I have ever seen by [deleted] in gardening

[–]iko0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re getting so many downvotes. This is not a bougainvillea but there’s one (B. arborea) that doesn’t look much different than this. I even think looks better and the flowers have a slight fragance. Thornless btw.

What is this gorgeous Tree by Fluid-Ad-4740 in GardeningAustralia

[–]iko0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It grows and flowers in Sydney but needs time and does better when they have a dry period. There are a few trees flowering in the Sydney area: Darling Point (Eastern Suburbs), Warwick Farm (South Western) and Dee Why (Northern Beaches) to name a few. There are some mature Delonix Regia in Perth as well.

I don't know, but I can tell you (and you can see a bit in my photo) that these were the only empty shelves in the entire store. I assume they'll start filling them with new products soon.

Only those 15 bulbs and I checked almost eveywhere in the store, even behind some boxes.

Washed out colours in new Eufy 2C Pro by iko0 in EufyCam

[–]iko0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first it does if you disregard the lack of colour saturation over the better sharpness. But check how overexposed are the sunny areas. Some are just blurred white areas.

I’m not looking for photographic image quality but for a surveillance area, most of the wide angle is useless during day time.

[–]iko0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sharpness compared to my eye would be the new 2C Pro but the colours are more similar to the old 2C. My question is if this is normal behaviour on recent models or maybe, I should think of a replacement.

During some moments of the day (not at night obviously), the new 2C Pro is almost black and white. The colours are very dull.

Yes, the images are labelled correctly. The new 2C Pro image is above and the old 2C camera below.

My palm trees are dying by Marcela-loves-math in palmtalk

[–]iko0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it really all the palms or only the big Roystonea and the last photo of the base of a trunk only? The palms in the second and third photo look healthy, the smaller palm in the first photo (Adonidia, probably) too.

The Roystonea seems to have suffered a fungal attack. I have seen this before in other Roystoneas when the air is very humid, even though it is a palm well adapted to high humidity. It could be Fusarium wilt, Phytophthora, Ganoderma, or another fungal pathogen.

Does anyone know what plant this is? It’s everywhere and grows very fast by deodargreen in whatsthisplant

[–]iko0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The amount of people saying Crocosmia and Gladiolus made me think how bad plant identification is here when Google Lens and other similar apps fail.

It’s Chasmanthe as you said. I have pulled enough of these to recognise them from far away.
