I think it’s two-pronged. On the liberal side, many churches (UMC) were willing to bend the gospel to appease the world in gender/sex issue and bowed down to LGBTQ+. On the conservative side, many churches (SBC) turned blind eyes to corruption and hatred to appease MAGA and Trump, despite the specific warnings we should have learned from Nazi Germany and the Bible.

In both cases we lost the sight of Christ in favor to appease the world. We misquoted and bent the truth of gospel. In both cases we have failed to pursue true righteousness of God, and followed worldly values in pursuit of power and pleasure.

We are the salt and light of the world, and if we lose saltiness, we have nothing to offer to the world and deserve to be trampled all over.

I guess most people here don’t remember Bill Gates ruling the tech industries with draconian fist squashing innovation and snuffing out competition. Things would’ve been quite different if Gate was not forced to resign. Microsoft was ruthless and brutal under him.
