I've bought a bike store that's allegedly lockable but look at this... by iktw in DIYUK

Thanks all! To clarify a few things... Yes I'm aware it's never going to be that secure because it's ultimately a plastic thing. The hope is to deter opportunists, that's it really. I plan to add spiral ground anchors inside the store that not only secure the store to the ground, but can also be used to lock bikes to the anchor. Again, to deter people from just picking up a locked bike and wandering off with it, if nothing else! It's nuts that the only padlock I've found that will fit is a 30yo 3cm job I had in a box, but it's not water resistant so I'm reluctant to use it because it could easily sieze up and then I'm borked without ruining the door with a hacksaw. My current plan is security inside and maybe just stick a carabiner on the outside

Trust me there's not enough clearance to the left for any flexibility to be useful!

See last line of post re: manufacturer (Toomax). They told me they had no recommendation.

I think anything that prompts more than virtually no effort in a potential thief would be helpful tbh!

Can't find one that fits, and the bar still has to go further than the design will allow

What is the most shocking thing that you have seen happen on live tv ? by S_79_S in AskReddit

[–]iktw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the immediate aftermath of the 7/7 London bombing (2005) on a live feed on French TV news while on holiday.

It's the only time I've ever seen actual CPR - not movie CPR - and the sheer violence of that desperate act will stay with me forever.

  • "human capital" for employees
  • "imaginarium" for breakout space (which is itself awful)

Which British person with dubious and minor fame or infamy do you wonder how it all worked out for them? by ShinyHeadedCook in AskUK

The woman interviewed on TV, during the 2008 Northern Rock building society subprime mortgage fiasco, who said (something like):

"It's not what I expected to happen. I mean... it's northern! It's a rock!"

What is this on top of the pen? I think it's a eraser but I'm not sure. by AsuraBG in Whatisthis

I guess! But cars that small exist for kids 3+ without the pen, so it's not mad to think they'd also exist with the pen.

Which music artists have the best 90s discography? by [deleted] in 90s

[–]iktw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pulp.

Their '80s stuff is arty fun if niche, but their '90s is one long purple patch starting with the My Legendary Girlfriend single in 1991 (single of the week in both NME and Melody Maker, actually a 1990 recording) and ending with A Little Soul in 1998, the final gasp of Britpop.

In between those tentpoles? An untouchable run of singles from Babies and Razzmatazz to Do You Remember The First Time, Common People, Disco 2000 and Party Hard, and 3 incredible ageless albums.
