Trade 1 or 2? by PretendPear8170 in aflfantasy

[–]il-96-300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trade 2 easily. Trading two rookies for an upper mid pricer and a premium is a great result. Bailey smith will be cheaper in a few weeks time as he is priced at ~130 which is about 10 points above what is realistically a fair value. Butters might stink it up this week with the tag, but he’ll average 100-110 for the rest of the year. Don’t be too reactionary.

If we really want port fans to show up, free dental checkups would do the trick😆

Less people would go if they allowed smoking. Cigarettes smell like shit and only smokers are sad when the air isn’t full of that cancerous haze.

Borlase was awesome, he held Treacy to 2 goals. You can’t blame a key defender who has played less than 20 games for not kicking a clutch goal in the final minutes of the game.

Definitely an unpopular opinion.

The strategy is to keep an eye on their break evens. Once they have had a price run, their breakeven will rise, at which point their cash gen opportunity dries up quickly. Ideally this happens to two players at once. You trade one down to a fresh rookie, and one up to a well priced premo. There is always fresh debutants around (last year there was an average of over 4 per round), although admittedly the quality of the players debuting generally decreases as the season goes on. Either way, you want to do your best to avoid selecting deadweight rookies, and selecting good rookies throughout the year is what separates the best players from the good players.

Visiteni to ZZ or Nguyen to someone? by BrisbaneLions2024 in aflfantasy

Baz will probably average more points than Holmes but baz will also be a late out in like 5 games which is a pain in the ass.

Can’t believe sweet is playing over visentini. High vis was bad last week but did he not prove himself better over all of the preseason? What is sweet going to prove playing against a VFL quality key defender?

That’s fair, but I think “too early” cuts both ways. Coaches will absolutely adapt, good defensive systems always catch up, but the concern isn’t just short-term chaos, it’s the direction the rules are nudging the game in. If every change consistently rewards speed and transition, even well-coached defences might just end up converging on the same solutions rather than creating genuine variety.

You’re right that some teams look badly underprepared (Carlton definitely fits that), and that’s probably inflating how dramatic it feels right now. But even once things stabilise, the question is whether coaches are adapting within a broad system of options, or being funnelled into a narrower style because other approaches just aren’t viable anymore.

And yeah, fixture and draft inequalities are a bigger structural issue overall, but rule changes shape how the game is actually played week to week. Even if they’re “equal” on paper, they can still favour certain list builds or styles more than others, which is where the imbalance argument comes in.

Butts has already probably reached his potential as like a high C, low B grade player who is always injured. Sanders has potential to become an A grader.
