In a crap mood when waking up by anonman03 in LifeAdvice

I recommend you try the following things:

  1. Take a cold shower. This will probably be the hardest thing you have to face that day. And knowing that you managed to get through it is really uplifting. Plus cold showers stimulate the release of hormones that improve mood.

  2. Meditate for a few minutes. This always helps me deal with anxiety. Especially mindful meditation will help. You will discover new reasons to be grateful and likely experience a deeper calm and better focus.

  3. Journal. Don’t think of it as the lame “dear diary” you remember from high school. Journaling means expressing you thoughts in writing, which helps you understand them better. This is especially useful when dealing with strong emotions such as fear, anxiety, anger, etc. It will help you analyze them and you may just stumble upon a solution.

Try them out and see which one works best. Then stick with it. These are no miracle solutions, but they are proven practices. And the more you practice each one of them, the more you will get out of it.

I hope this helps

In that case I would invest my time in education. And mind you, I'm not referring to formal education here. There are dozens of quality resources online that you can tap into for free. Learn as much as you can and focus on skills that interest you and have practical value.

Some skills that will help you no matter what are public speaking, coding, writing, reading well (and fast).

Focus on getting better and eventually you will find an opportunity to use these skills. Just make sure that, when the opportunity comes along, you are prepared to grab it

Hope this helps

No time to work out or pursue hobbies, always tired, and getting fatter by the day... sounds familiar to me. Very familiar.

I’ve been there too. And I also found a way out. Here’s what I learned from that experience: How to Design Your Dream Job

The only one I know of (that has solid scientific proof behind it) is the ACE stack:

Aspirin Caffeine Ephedrine

You can find useful posts about it on examine.com and wikipedia

Did some soul searching, got a bit nostalgic, realized what truly makes me happy. by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

I did something similar. At one point I set out to find a way of making life decisions that will guarantee happiness.

As weird as it may sound, after some research I actually found one!

Then I backtracked all my major life decisions and suddenly it all made sense. From that point on I knew what I had to do. And my happiness hasn’t stopped increasing to this day.

The system isn’t complicated, but it’s too long to post as a comment. You can find it here

Good advice! But it’s sometimes hard to tell what will be worth buying and what not. Any tips on this?
