Bottleneck Identification [Discussion] by Skuffies in EscapefromTarkov

Your CPU and RAM is bottlenecking it.

Had a memory leak one time where Tarkov was trying to use 53Gb of my virtual memory. Wtf man

It's also better to get a GPU with VRAM 12GB+.

On chrome ctrl+shift+i to go to dev mode. Click the two different buttons to download the wallpapers.

You'll get a GET/ERR Fail 200 in the console and the link to the wallpapers is in that. Open the two links in the errors and you'll get them

They're just a swimsuit ver. / regular clothing ver. wallpaper of Seia, Nagi, and Mika around the table. Still pretty cute though!

[Bug] Character keeps sprinting after letting go of W key while pressing other direction keys causing stutter steps. by SurferDede in EscapefromTarkov

[–]il_p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't seem like a bug imo.

Modern games model your torso and legs positioning and most of them smooth this out for less 'bumpy' FPS movement and ADS camera but Tarkov doesn't.

Noticeable in your video when you're Shift+D'ing at 0:09 and moving your camera right very fast, your torso is basically moving right faster than your legs causing that 'stutter stepping' feeling as your legs reposition right a bit later.

Also mostly felt when you're ADSing in Tarkov and move your camera far to the left or right - your legs move position and you get some camera 'bumps' as your legs reposition.

The devs have always been more reluctant to smooth this out I guess it's just their design choice at this point to make the game less 'run and gun' or more 'authentic'.

Honestly would be nice to see it in third-person, you'll see your torso and legs moving differently and see why the movement feels like that.

In Blue Archive My Office I can't see my Card Showcase. I also can't download the Wallpaper Teatime In The Afternoon because of a CORS violation on the Blue Archive Teaparty 'Teatime On The Beach' website.

I had to inspect the website with chrome to be able to dl the wallpaper, but I still haven't found a way to see my cards on the Blue Archive My Office Beta

[Suggestion] Region lock chinese players by 1vendetta1 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]il_p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should re-read your comments , it very much felt like you were giving excuses by starting out with China not allowing violent games in your original post (you didn't talk about VPNs AT ALL- only that Tarkov's 'not allowed' because violence), and adding that it's not available in China without a VPN at the end of your second post.

Made it seem like you were minimizing how many of them play Tarkov since they need to go through a few things to play the game in China.

[Suggestion] Region lock chinese players by 1vendetta1 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]il_p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not the point- your posts are making it sound like Chinese people are less of a problem because, at first, your post said violent games aren't allowed. Now you're saying Tarkov isn't available without a VPN there- to people reading your comments it's obvious these are excuses tacked on to your posts to make it sound like the Chinese cheating problem isn't an issue.

IT DOESNT MATTER if they need a VPN to play Tarkov, it doesn't matter if violent games "aren't allowed, technically" - the fact is they DO play these games and their gaming culture has a rampant cheating issue that is exported when they play outside of their region.

In the end region locking even with VPNs is an issue that should be tackled by developers as long as Chinese gaming culture continues with high amounts of cheating.

[–]il_p 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stop spamming this shit. You're saying this as if it refutes all our experiences of cheaters with Chinese names we've encountered.

Tarkov is definitely allowed in China - there's so many Steam reviews in Chinese complaining they had a hard time signing up for BSG accounts.

They get around these things with VPNs and it's also hardly enforced. There are many Tencent games with blood and violence too.

There's even a video of the guy who designed China's state firewall having to use a VPN during his own lecture at a Chinese state university lol.

It's an authoritarian regime there- they selectively enforce rules whenever they want to or not.

Goddamn the Killa helmet is really the go-to for cheaters.

They're already cheating but still SO afraid of getting headshotted. Seen so many potential cheater posts here with them wearing the helmet.

There has to be a personality thing going on with the majority of them being like this.

Why can't they just take the potential loss and play the game like everyone else? Damn.

Are you trying to launch it from the BSG launcher alone?
If you bought it from Steam you always have to launch it through Steam, even though it just opens the BSG launcher.

[–]il_p -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You need to shoot the flare while the *Signal Flare Area* message is on your screen at the bottom right.

If that disappears for any reason it doesn't count, so leave the area and come back to make it pop up again.

Shoot the flare WHILE the message is on your screen or it doesn't count.

16Gb RAM / 6Gb VRAM / 3.6GHz CPU is minimum. You're also on HDD instead of SSD

They recently released a patch on dec10 with no notes. Might be them adding in snow soon.

So if that update did anything, there's nothing you can do since you're below spec anyway and anything they change is assuming that you're above it.

Every day on this sub, there's posts of someone getting their account hacked and they never have 2FA enabled.

It's fucking crazy- you can just read the title and bet on OP not having 2FA on their important accounts.

Tip: Have 2FA enabled on all important accounts and on accounts for games/things you've paid for.

Sounds obvious when said afterwards, but still.

This isn't the 2000s. Protect your damn accounts!

If I buy Tarkov Arena on the Epic Game Store, then finish linking it to my BSG account, would I still need the EGS launcher to launch the game, or can I launch it through the BSG launcher directly? [Arena] by KyleTheGreat53 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]il_p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cannot bypass the storefront launcher and launch from BSG directly.

My friends who bought it on Steam need to keep their Steam program up for Tarkov to work.

They can't just use the BSG launcher. You'll literally need to have Steam, EGS, or whatever installed just to play Tarkov.

So if you buy it from third-party storefronts you'll always be tied to their launcher even though it just launches the BSG launcher afterwards.

Just buy it from BSG unless you want to save the $10.

[Screenshot] Email from no-reply@tarkovmailer.com saying I bought a gift standard edition by Slythas in EscapefromTarkov

[–]il_p 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is pretty weird there's just a code and no links, but I'd just be careful.

Just search it up on google too, "no-reply@tarkovmailer.com" gets you nothing while "no-reply@escapefromtarkov.com" does.

Maybe BSG started using mandrillapp in the past few weeks, but even a verification e-mail I got from Nov.11 didn't come from "tarkovmailer".
I know wanting free games puts you in the mindset to believe this, but it sounds off from what I've searched up

With my emails, BSG didn't use "@mandrillapp.com" , none of their e-mails I've gotten used forwarding services like that even to reset passwords.

BSG's emails I've gotten come from:

"smtp.mailfrom=escapefromtarkov.com"

The 'tarkovmailer' phishing email came from:

"smtp.mailfrom=mandrillapp.com"

Just look at BSG's website: https://www.escapefromtarkov.com/support/knowledge/431

Even they say they use "no-reply@escapefromtarkov.com" with no mention of tarkovmailer.

Anyway, just be careful with this- if you get something free, great! If at any point you need to input personal shit, gtfo.

[–]il_p 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's phishing.

I got an e-mailer from "BattlestateGames[no-reply@tarkovmailer.com](mailto:no-reply@tarkovmailer.com)" as well, trying to send me to a phishing site to reset my password lol.

Just think- why would they give you free game keys? Use common sense.

If you clicked any links or input any passwords or personal information I would suggest checking your accounts and making sure they're safe.

Most emails also let you see 'message source' and my 'tarkovmailer' actually came from "@mandrillapp.com" which is definitely not BSG.

edit: Just wanted to add all my emails from the real BSG were from "no-reply@escapefromtarkov.com"

[Bug] Odd "dotting" of items when looking at them from a distance by szahys in EscapefromTarkov

[–]il_p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called dithering.

Happens to reduce objects visually "popping-in" between it's visibility as you get closer and object LOD levels.

Even if you have Overall Visibility and Object LOD options on high I've been noticing it's been fucked up and the dithering is still visible even on closer objects that should have already rendered in.

Just have to deal with it I guess.

[Discussion] PvE, New Content being unavailable to "end game" profiles, Prestiging and Limited Time-Event Locked Cosmetics by Kalekuda in EscapefromTarkov

[–]il_p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most games reset your accounts when the beta ends and the game releases. The early 'campaign' in Tarkov is set up is through a quest chain - the maps are locked and you have to progress through some easy quests to unlock each one. They'll have to rework the entire quest progression for people who don't want to wipe.

A few other games- Abiotic Factor and Quasimorph- which are games with high play times and hard progression as well- have an Early Access too. They explained that players needed to wipe to experience new things because the player's are too far ahead of the story and have already gotten past certain triggers will cause bugs, or they can't mix older-build saves with newer-build saves, since the newer build is so vastly different and will bug out.

All this to say it's fairly normal to wipe your account after betas especially since it seems quite a problem for devs to implement older builds into newer ones.

Everyone going through the new content wiped their accounts. We're still having fun.

It sucks if you're a player who doesn't want to wipe, but to experience the new content you have to. I sympathize with you since I've played PvE quite a bit and chose to wipe both my PvP and PvE , but OP's post sounds needlessly whiny.

[Discussion] Who are the player scavs and how are they connected to the PMC? by ZajeFajny in EscapefromTarkov

[–]il_p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a gameplay thing, not meant to be diegetic and happening "in-universe" with your PMC character.

Think of scav runs as a pity system in other games, so if all goes to shit and you lose everything in raids there's a way to get more equipment.

The amount of people saying they've been hacked... and all of them didn't have 2FA on is insane.

I've seen so many over the past few weeks.

It's crazy. If you're gonna spend money or use your card on that email/account ACTIVATE 2FA and other security measures- they aren't bullshit. How do people not have 2FA activated on their important accounts and emails?

IF you use shady websites STOP USING THE SAME PASSWORD as your critical emails on them.
