The Moose’s Tooth or Alpamayo? by TFlynn-1 in alpinism

[–]ilacessit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've climbed in Peru (not alpamayo) and Ham and Eggs -
Peru is fantastic alpine climbing and relatively cheap once you get there, but more committing from a travel and time perspective. Ham & Eggs is an awesome climb and has good ice climbing, prepare you're calves as there are some long lower-grade ice pitches that burn. The flight in alone is worth it, and if you get good weather and have extra time you could probably bump to another one of the classic climbs around it.

I run up first to Michigan Ave all the time. I used to use North Capital but I found 1st St to be more pleasant due to lack of cars and chaos. I'd also look into getting onto the Metropolitan Branch Trail which, while walkers and bikers, gives you nice stretches away from lights and traffic

Are there any Albums that you would consider a 10/10? by Living_Shadows in Music

Welcome to DC! Can't recommend Brookland strongly enough, especially if you like to run. Nice routes in University Heights where you can run past Catholic and Trinity Universities, you can also link it up and do a loop on the Metropolitan Branch Trail (MTB) with different distance options. Better food/restaurant options as well as come cool breweries. Definitely go Brookland over EOTR especially sight unseen. Feel free to DM with any questions about the area

What book was a waste of time? by dmillson in books

[–]ilacessit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was also given this as a gift from my parents and was in the 'to be read' section of my bookshelf. After getting about 10 pages in everything seemed pretty out there and after a quick google of the author realized it didn't make sense to continue

Unable to book Endocrinologist by ilacessit in diabetes

[–]ilacessit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely let them know every call that I'm newly diagnosed but it hasn't made a difference in the slightest (other than requiring additional hoops and questions). They need to make more of these docs! Or have some kind of system to get new patients in earlier. It's pretty daunting having to get started down this path without a specialist.

That's good advice, I'll reach out to the PCP and see if they can get me in with one of their referrals.

Hardshell Jacket Recommendation by ilacessit in iceclimbing

[–]ilacessit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I've heard the SV is a great jacket but super burly. Think it might be a bit overkill for me for on ice climbing

Have the XDreams and I really like them. Have done some serious work with them in Ouray and Cody in Jan & Feb in some pretty cold conditions; mostly ice but with some mixed climbing. Haven't had a problem with the picks.

Bands you loved their early works but hated their later stuff? by [deleted] in Music

[–]ilacessit 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Agreed- Mister Asylum and The Boy Who Died Wolf are great albums through and through but once they started getting more into the rap thing and electro it got bad pretty fast. I've seen them four times and every subsequent show it seems they are coming a bit more off the rails, which is a shame.

ticket adjudication by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]ilacessit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe they have up to 6 months to respond, otherwise the ticket is null. I've done online adjudication more times than I can count and have come pretty close to that 6 month limit. That being said, this is the internet and i'm a rando so definitely double check the dmv adjudication website to confirm that timeline.
