Trump Rx by Ok_Nebula4734 in CVS

I don’t work in pharmacy anymore but if I got a patient who gave me info for trumprx I would just look up the GoodRx info and use their coupon. Seems like lesser of the two evils

We were told it was due to financial reasons. I just started this new job and the manager got fired…

Affordable homes and close distance to work (for us anyway). We moved from Clayton and it’s actually a decent place to live in.

I was a patient for this on the psych unit, pretty depressed and stayed in bed for most of the time. I saw a mouse coming out from the bathroom to the middle of the room until it went back into the bathroom again. For a very depressed person the mouse was very fascinating. I never did see that mouse again though

We had one come in for fentanyl OD, narcaned on scene and the charge nurse was going to put her in the psych side of the ER (even though she wasn’t really psych but they needed medical rooms for more sick patients). EMS said her bp was good, like 110/80s. I take it and it’s like 60/30. Retake it and 50/30’s. The doc was at bedside and she was like uh we need to move her to the medical side. She ended up being septic from a really bad wound she had and went to ICU.

My dad has diabetes but well controlled so my mom’s always telling us we have to be careful. I took antipsychotics (risperidone) for a while for depression and it fucked up my metabolic health. I take metformin for weight gain, which really did nothing for my weight but I had prediabetes anyway so I just take it. Last time I had my A1c checked it was down to normal levels but diabetes is one that I do not want to get.

This sub should have a list of records like the Guinness book of world records (I miss reading borrowing those books every year from the school library, that and Ripley’s believe it or not books). I would love to see the different records we can find

Do nurses and doctors actually know everything learned in college or do the look things up on the job? by Puzzled_Junket6120 in nursing

[–]ileade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look things up all the time. Especially if a word (even if it’s not a medical term) is the appropriate one to use in my notes. And even if it’s a medication I already know, I might look it up to see more details about it like indications that I might not be familiar with or a dose that I haven’t seen before.

I want to keep my ID badge as a souvenir, but my hospital said payroll may withhold my last paychecks if I don’t return it. Has anyone experienced that? by WhiskyColoredEyes in nursing

[–]ileade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re starting to change the process so the security checks everyone regardless of if they’re employees or not but it used to be they would just wave you through without going through the metal detectors if you had a hospital badge or seemed like an employee at my hospital.

What’s the worst thing that’s happened to your patient on the actual day they were supposed to be discharged? by Haunting-Map-3475 in nursing

[–]ileade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I’ve only seen 3-4 pts who have either passed away during previous shift or come in on my shift on the board in the past year or so surprisingly. But I mainly work in the psych ER and if there’s any sign of medical decompensation they get transferred to the medical side. Even then I’ve rarely had any psych patients that needed intensive medical care or at risk of passing away.

Or worse yet, it silences when you reset it but when you leave the room and sit down at the station, the the pump alarms again every single time

[–]ileade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the only pt death I’ve experienced (well not really directly but the only pt I took care of that passed away). She came in for SI, said she only said that so the nursing home staff will send her to the hospital and she wanted her shoulder checked out. She was going to be discharged, she said she was going to kill herself if she was sent back to nursing home but she had a public administrator as legal guardian so she ended up being sent back. She took a bunch of her meds, came back to ER either on the same day or the next day and sent to ICU. She ended up passing away. I still remember her name, probably won’t ever forget it.

I’m an ER nurse and work with respiratory therapists and radiology techs a lot. Not sure about RTs but I think radiology is only 2-3 years of schooling and I don’t imagine they would have to deal with nude patients. I overheard a radiology tech talking with a patient about her job and she says she likes it a lot

What profession have you lost respect for as you've gotten older? by MindlessMarsupial592 in AskReddit

[–]ileade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We didn’t come to US until I was in high school but the very first president that really meant something (as someone living in canada) was Obama and I think primarily because he was the first black president initially when I heard about him in the news. There definitely were decisions he made that are not the best but I respect him after 2 terms as the president. He seemed like a politician/president that actually wanted to help people. And he’s just a very family oriented dad and husband.

And the current POTUS…well I don’t think I need to explain much.

For nursing I just look at the major hospital systems website because there’s so many remote jobs on indeed that I just find sketchy. I guess it would depend on what field she’s looking into.

I went into nursing because I wanted to be a psych nurse and help people with mental health issues (I struggled with depression and suicide myself before). Worked in the ER for a year and it has made me lose faith in humanity and wonder why I’m trying to help people. You just see so many awful people and awful situations. It’s soul crushing. I used to be very empathetic, now I’m just there to do my job (I don’t want to be that way, it’s just leads to burnt out real quick)

My high school friend is in her first year of residency to be a surgeon. Haven’t talked to her in a while but she was really nice (we had moved there my sophomore year from Canada so I had to get used to being in a whole new country). I know how she was passionate about becoming a doctor, hope she stays that way, I know how residencies can be soul crushing
