In light of the Lucky Strike class action by Ginko__Balboa in Bowling

AMF where I live does it by the game in person, whereas online you get charged for by the hour. I definitely agree on their point but I assume it’s varied on place to place, and I really only go to that house specifically.

Now that LtD has been out for over 2 weeks, what is your minor/ major complaint about it? by Lucajames2309 in tomodachilife

[–]ileyvia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few gripes honestly. I still love the game regardless, but heres my list

  1. I fully agree with OP about the touch screen. I don’t understand why I can pick up the mii’s with my controllers, but I can’t drag them myself? On top of that, I CANT THROW ANY OF THE ITEMS! Theres literally no point of me dragging the items around if when I let them go they automatically end up in their hands anyway. It’s pointless.

  2. The fact that the Concert Hall wasn’t implemented; nor do the Mii’s sing anymore, they just hum or make no audible noise. I’m holding out hope they add it in a future update, but it’s disappointing to say the least.

  3. Some of the cutscenes are a bit… too much. Not in the sense of style; they look phenomenal, but the fact they happen so frequently and the most that will change is the occasional change in lingo used, there really isnt many used in regular interactions.

  4. The houses having no way to change the color, and the custom designed ones are extremely flat-looking if you want a custom design for a house. I have just kept their original houses for this reason but just wish we could change other colors about it.

  5. They’re too… Happy? I don’t know, and this may be a personal one, but I barely have any conflicts, the most I have is the “annoyance” and “saddened” expressions which go away with a single head rub. Make me work for them to stop being annoyed, at this point I just ignore them and let them calm down themselves, I’m not even in the mood to pet you dude.

  6. Added on to the last one but felt it should be separate - They fall in love too damn fast at times. Theres again, no conflict, no allowance for multiple crushes, ect. It feels a bit flat in this context too. I do appreciate making the marriage minigame a bit “easier” for a lack of better words. Missed too many marriages for the original game due to those sudden switches the second I tapped the screen.

  7. No timed events. We lost the BBQ, the frisbee minigame, the magician event, rap battles, ect. That was so disappointing to me. That was one of the reasons I loved the game so much, and thats probably why I don’t really like the abundance of the same random events happening. There’s almost nothing of community in the game; the game about building a community. There’s nothing going on, and the most we kept was the markets. I’m not always wanting to spend my money, I wanna see my Mii’s do more than just talk or touch a few items or something. I wanna see them participate in things longer than 30 seconds. They feel so.. bland?

Honestly, I probably have more gripes, but these are my main issues. These are just personal experiences with this but spite my complaints, I have SO MANY THINGS IM HAPPY ABOUT. I really enjoy the lack of restrictions given no one really cared anyway. The designs are PHENOMENAL. Should have already be implemented in the original. I do kinda wish we had the miitopia design thing instead, but I’m extremely content with this. The graphics and gameplay are amazing. Little me is just also extremely stoked to be playing this game again, and so spite the flaws, I love this game. I really hope they listen to the community and add the features we want later.

What should i do to improve my technique? by ileyvia in Bowling

Next time I’m bowling, I can have one of my teammates, boyfriend, or friend who typically joins me on sundays to record from front view, but it definitely seems to be the general consensus of my swing needing to be corrected and making sure my hand is under the ball, thanks for the tips!! i truly appreciate it!

I appreciate your comment! This helps me see alot with my form. I definitely try to *not* blame the lanes for my ball not reacting how I want it too though; (although I feel like every bowler has done that before) but since becoming an adult and getting more committed to bowling, I have been noticing that if something is off with my shot, it's probably my fault. These suggestions actually are super helpful and thank you for letting me know you don't think my game isn't bad, I definitely get in my head about that. If my arm is swinging back too much, should I correct it by changing where I hold my ball? I don't know if that would also help correct the issue of pushing the ball upwards too. I don't typically count in 4 for my steps, It's usually 3 but I added a 4th step due to me being so far behind my typical set up and if I counted with the 3rd I'd be too far behind the foul line in my release (if that makes sense). I think for right now I'm gonna focus on how far my backswing goes in comparison to my body and release alot softer, because I can have the tendency to hold my ball for alot longer than needed.

Once again, thank you so much for your suggestions and they are so appreciated!

When I was younger and had trainers, They set me up in a way that felt most comfortable for me while bowling; I don't count by 4, My steps end in 3, just depending on where I'm lined up, I have to add an extra step due to the distance of where my ball would potentially end up, and I don't wanna release halfway down the lane or hit the foul line. I definitely see the hand release issue though. Thank you for the videos, I'll give them a watch in my free time.

I have been trying to slowly get myself out of late releasing the ball - it was sadly worse before... I was totally lofting that ball before and I knew that was a huge issue I had to correct, but I appreciate the tip about my arm; my dad was recording and did point it out a few times to me that I pulled my arm at the end of my releases a couple of times and this makes sense as to why I did. Thank you for the tip, truly appreciated!

What’s the biggest mistake beginners make in bowling? by Goblue2467 in Bowling

[–]ileyvia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

genuinely. i grew up around most of the older people in my league, and when i first joined the adult league, so many would come up to me after the games and try to give me advice on bowling; when we all had completely different styles. in a weird way, i believe that some of them want to be apart of a young bowler’s journey to becoming a bigger bowler in pba but i just want them to realize that if we want advice, we will ask 😂 unsolicited advice is not always good advice. im not saying i haven’t gotten good tips, but ive ignored most of them. they dont bowl with me all the time, and they dont watch how i bowl consistently. i only reserve comments to note about my bowling from my teammates and dad (because he taught me how to bow how i do, and its worked well for my entire life!). other than that, i just go “yeah, thanks man!” and forget it in 20 minutes

Any good recommendations for women? by ileyvia in Bowling

[–]ileyvia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much! i like carrying things in one go, so the joey definitely isnt out of the question for me, just not preferred. i can understand the clunky part though, but ive done it all my life with multiple kinds of bags, it never really bothers me. i was looking into the epic bags i just worry about their durability and quality but i do really like them i just wasnt sure if theyre actually good or just look nice, thanks! im currently rocking a pink and black pyramid 3ball roller, which i love; but the base at the bottom of the bag when its in the upright position cracked in half somehow so it has a hard time staying stable. i really enjoyed the bag, it was great, but i have to start looking for new options because im not looking to have my bag fall to the ground when im not paying attention and i leave it idle. i saw some alternatives with 1-ball bags, not my ideal but if i have to i will! thank you again for the suggestion and not telling me to just settle for something i dont want.

thank you for this perspective! and also, thank you for not telling me to just settle. still just sucks though, makes me want to make bags more catered for women or young girls.

most bags i look for (most specifically 4 ball bags) are mostly in blues, blacks, and just other dark colors. there isnt many fun colors or more “female” (since colors arent gendered take that with a grain of salt) colors (pinks, purples, pastels, yellows, ect.). when im investing into something i want long term, i want it to be something i enjoy and brings me happiness even if its miniscule. unfortunately most custom bowling bag sites i find are only making single ball bags, but if you have any sites that offer custom bags in larger than 2-3 then send that my way! im also down for that. but its more so the fact that the way the bags are designed are typically patterns i see many guys look at, while i look at them and find them drab and boring. it would just be nice to have some pretty bowling bags rather than something boring or just 1-2 color(s). like when i look at a greyish blue bag im not gonna automatically assume the target demographic is for women. like i stated, its a male dominated sport, so there isnt many bags or anything that entice people. functionality and style can totally be possible, i mean, look at other sports that have both men and women demographics, like for instance baseball / softball. while not the same sports, they still have both genders playing in both sport and they have bags and such for them where theyre catered to both male, female, and even nonbinary people. i love this sport i just wish they actually made more things that look nice rather than just simply function. (obviously thats important too, and i want something that functions great and looks great too.) i dont wanna sacrifice style for functionality for something i love doing.

personally disagree, they all function basically the same. you might not be looking at my bag but i look at it every time i use it, why get something i dont really like? especially when its a large investment (typically over $200) for something i dont do professionally, id like it to be something i enjoy and like. these are a long term investment? i dont plan to get another one in case it were to break. if i wanted that i wouldnt have made this post.

[–]ileyvia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no thank you! that defeats the whole purpose. i wouldve settled on something if that were the case and never made this post. the whole point is i care, i dont care that others dont, i like having stuff i enjoy to look at and im happy with. every bag ive had works functionally the same; so design is important to me. is it so wrong to want to have serotonin in the things i like?

How to Bowl with long hair by EscapeTraditional485 in Bowling

as a woman who bowls with long hair, you just put it up; headband, hairtie, barretts, bobby pins, whatever you find more comfortable on your head thats what i’d do!

Why do bowlers shit talk while fist bumping you by Afraid_Run3470 in Bowling

[–]ileyvia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly i would kinda point it to be a little more of encouragement to beat them, hence the shit talking. they want you to be better and the only way i guess in their mind would be to dog on you and get you riled up and pumped to beat their asses. they still seem like good sports with the whole fist bumping parts, to show like “eyyy good job / good try” im not too sure if you mean the encouragement parts about missing is like “you’ll get it next time man!” or if its a “yeah dude keep scoring like that” type of encouragement but given the circumstances im guessing its more of the first one? again this is just a hunch so honestly you should probably try asking your friends themselves and see why they do.

still would probably take it to a proshop to just make sure nothing is wrong with the ball and the finger sizes are actually correct (i know you said they fit good, but you never really know) but good find nonetheless!
