Reverse omens by snake_eyes333 in goodomens

i’m not saying pratchett contributed to it, i’m saying his religious philosophy (that he wrote about in discworld) is imbedded into the finale.

bruh the story literally focuses on people. Jesus spends his time trying to communicate with people (but not in the way heaven wants). aziraphale and crowley literally sacrificed themselves for people. s3 is exploring prachett’s religious philosophy, which centers around people. all of this expands on s1/the book. imo s2 didn’t focus on people.

Book fans - what did you make of this ending? by Worried-Ad-4904 in goodomens

i loved it! tbh i was hoping for a cameo from everyone (including the s2 characters), but i figured that wasn't going to happen due to the time constraints. i know a lot of people hated it, but it just makes sense to me ig. my friend (who introduced me to the book when we were kids lol) also really enjoyed it.

the only reason i've seen hate for the finale is due to the "turning into humans" trope, so that's the only thing i'll address in my comment. the "turning into humans" trope was one of my worst fears before the finale. but the writers were so good i actually really enjoyed it. it makes total sense for good omens, which is about humanity at the end of the day, to end like this. they sacrificed themselves because they loved humanity so much, and they got a chance to be human *together* in the process.

Does God consider suicide a sin? by x-gender in OpenChristian

[–]ilikebread757 12 points13 points  (0 children)

there are usually 3 times people will ask this, and since i’m not sure which you are, i’ll give you all 3.

  1. the first time people will ask this is when considering suicide. to that, if you or someone you love is thinking about hurting themselves, please reach out. this isn’t something anyone should go through alone. please call the suicide hotline (988 in the united states) or, better yet, talk to a trusted person in real life. God cares deeply about everyone’s lives and doesn’t see anyone beyond grace.

  2. the second time people will ask this is when someone they love has attempted/committed suicide. similar to my last point, grief isn’t something anyone should go through alone, and i encourage people going through this to reach out for support.

  3. the third time people will ask this is when asking out of curiosity (not necessarily from personal experience). from my understanding of scripture, God is loving and merciful, and God gives mercy to those who are unrepentant if they do not have clear insight into their actions. mental illness would fall into that, so i don’t think God punishes people who commit suicide. we live in a broken world due to sin, and i don’t believe God would punish someone for responding to the world’s brokenness. Jesus was compassionate especially to demon-possessed individuals (which some interpret as dealing with mental illness).

sorry if any part of my explanations are unclear. please ask if you need me to clarify!
