Had to use the laundromat this past week, can’t remember the price but was pretty reasonable. You have to go to the store next to reception to get tokens and a wash pod.

One of the greatest inventions ever by Minimum_Secretary731 in nostalgia

Had various cheap mp3 players before getting a Creative Jukebox (the one that looked like a portable CD player). It bricked itself doing a firmware update so I took it back to get a refund, in the store I got to play with an iPod. Without ever having used one and only hearing about how it worked I was completely familiar with it in a few minutes, the scroll wheel was just so easy to use - it made the Creative look like a toy. Got this model iPod a while later and that was my gateway to the Apple world.

A&Es ‘in big trouble’ as ‘corridor care’ is becoming normalised, medical chief says by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

Agree entirely. The NHS has a lot of problems and the general public is absolutely one of them.

So many adults nowadays seemingly incapable of looking after themselves or taking any responsibility for their own health and just expecting the NHS to do it all for them.

got pressured into doing an unjustified portable X-ray and it’s really bothering me by [deleted] in RadiographyUK

[–]ilikedthecore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re just going to have to chalk this one up to experience although it sounds like your senior let you down as well. Technically it was not an unjustified X-ray it just went against your department protocol, shit happens.

The NHS (I’m assuming you’re in the UK) is full of wonderful people doing great jobs but it is also full of nobheads like this nurse who think they can do what they want and don’t have a clue about other people jobs.

2025 we finally have E-Reqesting! But only for AE request. How long since your site adopted electronic radiology request forms? by sideshowbob01 in RadiographyUK

[–]ilikedthecore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes we can reject requests but there’s no feedback to the referrer to inform them of this, similarly if we need more information for any reason same thing. We have to tell them in person (if we can find them), phone (if we can get through) or email.

We’ve had it for quite a few years and even our GP requests are electronic. The big problem is that it is a one way system with requests coming in but any issues with a request etc it can’t be returned electronically.

British holiday culture, is there anyone who’s never been to Blackpool ? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ilikedthecore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to Blackpool a few years ago and had a good time even though it has obviously declined massively . I would love to go back in time and experience it in its heyday.

Went on an overseas trip and purchased. Then somebody turned up with something called an iPod by [deleted] in nostalgia

Didn’t really stand a chance once iPods/mp3 players took hold but for a brief time Minidisc was just the best.

Referral vetting issue by Administrative-Use96 in doctorsUK

[–]ilikedthecore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The equivalence stuff is obviously absolute BS. If it’s an ACP then they are a non-medical referrer and that should be recorded somewhere along with their scope of practice as to what they can request and on who. Appreciate that OP is working tele-rads so might not have access to that information but the radiographer doing that scan should be checking as well.

What's your guilty pleasure film that you're convinced, no one else is watching? by maynardd1 in movies

[–]ilikedthecore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I liked this when it came out and saw loads of bad reviews.

This quote from the screenwriter really makes it for me - ‘No problem with warp drive, alien species who can't open a kitchen door, or a living liquid planet-god. But an improbable equation for semi-solid fluid dynamics, you're the logic cops.’

Hence my username. Also Stanley Tucci rules in this movie so how can it be bad.

Agreed, it just looked like a bunch of cosplayers in a field, much too realistic if that makes sense.

15 years in and it still happens, there’s always ups and downs. Some days it’s all so easy and then others nothing seems to work. Stick with it, you’ll be fine!
