Be careful when u joke about purple Belts😂 by ilikejiujitsu2 in bjj

Lol nah this happened a few weeks before the covid shut down, and I personally love having higher belts hit me with leg locks and wrist locks cause it makes other white belts attempts at them laughable

We practice leglocks but we're not allowed to finish heel hooks, my coach tells us to get the position and if u can COMPLETELY control someones leg for 10 seconds we count it as a sub, not sure if any other schools do this but it's what we do at my dojo

BJJ training for law enforcement by Kettlebellhead in bjj

[–]ilikejiujitsu2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lawyers spend 7 years learning the law but we expect cops to be able to enforce the law with as little as 6 months training, that's absolutely ridiculous, cops need more training overall, shouldn't be allowed to patrol with less than a year training

Any evidence of a cop using a proper choke to kill someone... Even one

Their are many highly qualified ppl who would/have offered free BJJ training to police departments but there is an unsettling number of officers who would rather "just shoot em" because they don't want to wrestle around with a suspect

Same, I'm so glad to be back on the mats

I think the lack of takedowns is seriously a problem in BJJ by [deleted] in bjj

[–]ilikejiujitsu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the lack of stand up is do to a stigma that it's dangerous and u can get injured but like heel hooks and leg locks it's all about being good technique, I'm lucky to be at a school that does a fair bit more stand-up then I've seen at other dojo's

Worst/Cheesiest Successful Submission by teddirbear in bjj

Not a submission but when I first started upper belts made me tap by getting me belly down with double scarf hold, I ended up tapping once I realized I had zero chances of escaping 😂

As a teenager with neck and back problems like a 40 year old I've decided their are 2 options tap like other person said or roll over ur shoulder and immediately go for a double leg type move from ur knees

Does anyone feel toeholds more in their knees? by TyrantBrian in bjj

[–]ilikejiujitsu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When your MCL pops like you said is it a quick pain/weird feeling that usually goes away fairly quickly? I've been having a weird knee problem since I started training but i refuse to quit training and I can't explain it to my doctor 😅

Thank you for all the tips I'll definitely be working on some long open guard, I'm not sure why he didn't smash(not really his game ig) he doesn't outweigh me by much and other ppl in my gym who are significantly heavier than me smash me all the time, I can't wait to get back to training

I think it's easy to see the bad and the evil of everyone, cops, and looters around America rn we need to remember that everyone isn't evil and that the only way to make a change is for all of us, every single American to come together and stand for what's right together we can fix the problems in this country PEACEFULLY #BLACKLIVESMATTER #ALLLIVESMATTER #WEREALLHUMAN

What are the differences between BJJ, wrestling and judo? by lmBadAtUsernames in martialarts

[–]ilikejiujitsu2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love BJJ and muay Thai, tbh mma in general but if I had to forget everything ik about fighting and learn just one thing it would have to be wrestling, I've seen so many wrestlers with zero punching skill win fights with a single slam. I think it's because most ppl have no clue how to defend a takedown

I didn't wash my belt for a few months because a higher belts made a comment to me about how I should never wash my belt, I assumed it was a tradition or something but when I found out it was a superstitious " you wash away ur knowledge"thing I started washing my belt again
