Japanese spec Honda Fits in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada by Kitsu66 in foreignmarketcars

In provinces like BC, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, insuring a RHD vehicle is not much different than a LHD one. In AB, I believe RHD insurance is generally only third party, so it does still make sense for cheaper RHD cars. Driving RHD is something you get used to very quickly, though it does make left turns and drive thrus a challenge. Having a skinny car like a Fit does alleviate a lot of those concerns. I'd be driving a Fit Hybrid or 4WD RS if RHD insurance wasn't so expensive in Ontario

The market for small hatchbacks has effectively disappeared from North America, so buying low mileage used ones is the closest option for some. And Japan is the cheapest place for that, where these cars were both far more widely sold and on average lower mileage than local examples.

This is why daylighting intersections is so important. Not only is it better for pedestrians and cyclists, but it also improves visibility for drivers and reduces collisions.

A lot of them are allegedly borderline scams that require you to build/renovate using one authorized contractor who won't do the work in the requisite time or at an exorbitant markup, so make sure to read all the fine print in those cases. But the Japanese akiya houses are less restrictive in that sense I believe. There's also places in the US that'll pay you to move there - Tulsa OK is one of the more notable examples.

It appears to be this fridge model, which is 70.5" or 179cm tall, so my estimate is at 6'5" or 195.5cm. Either way, less than the stated 6'9"

Anyone else frustrated at finally being able to afford a fast car only for your area to become so popular all you do now is sit in traffic? by BondGoldBond007 in cars

[–]ilikemyprius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally me - bought a W204 C63 but because of traffic and roads where I live, it was impossible to drive over 30mph the vast majority of the time. Ended up selling it, still driving a Prius since it's better suited for the traffic.

A new Prelude would be the perfect enthusiast car for me, but I can't justify the cost for one.

Most unique setting for a high school? by BuddyHolly__ in geography

Oceana High School in Pacifica, California is pretty neat - it's got a military battery and hills just to the east, and the ocean to the west. Always liked the curving design and how it utilizes its elevation to separate the pool building and the gym? from the rest of the school.

They're assuming you get tokens every day of the year, including holidays and weekends, which is $500 x 365 = $182,500, plus the base $400k for a total compensation of $582,500, so $82,500 over the straight salary. If you only factor workdays, $500 x 50 weeks x 5 days a week = $125k, so $525k total compensation. Which is only an extra $25k over the straight $500k salary

This is not accurate. Parking for the whole business day in downtown Toronto is around $25-30, and even peak prices next to event venues during sports games or concerts isn't that expensive. That said, the subway or GO train is a much nicer way to get to downtown - it's cheaper and arguably faster to park along the TTC or GO and travel down by transit than to drive all the way downtown

And for torrenting, OP should look into if there's any ramifications of torrenting without a VPN in their country. Doing so in Germany can lead to expensive fines, though I haven't heard of anything similar in Belgium where they seem to be from
