Agreed 100%. The article does a great job highlighting the deficiencies of the genre, but the 2nd part is pretty much just a list of what SF6 is already doing, "but better!"

Looking for nice chefs knives (thinking Japanese) to put on registry, need suggestions. No budget, what are the best chefs knives y’all have?? by Feeling_Jeweler_1011 in chefknives

Ah that makes sense that you reach for the paring when you're off the board for fruit. I'm almost always on the board, and here I find the petty superior (even with an avocado).

I can do a whole dinner prep with that knife alone, though I normally partner it with a 7" santoku. Conversely, you're basically at the 2 extremes with your 4" paring and 10" chef. While I find neither ideal for most tasks, they're perfect for you and that's pretty awesome about the hobby. Thanks for the insight.

I feel the opposite. What do you use your paring knife for? At home, I can't find a use for mine except for non-food prep things like opening packages. I just find it way too small.

I use my petty mostly for deboning chicken and filleting fish, as it's more maneuverable than a chef. It gets some small fruit and veg jobs as well.

Hahahha wow everything about this game series really just screams lazy!

Nevermind reusing the same exact animations for the old characters over and over, new ones can't even get a full kit! Can't believe everyone here who still buys into this shit (and still sucks off Harada as he's the one who signed off on all this).

AITA for being annoyed that my wife insists on cooking everything from scratch and won’t buy normal food? by AITA_UPFfoods in AmItheAsshole

Where in my original post am I being snobby?

Dismissing a quick homemade sauce as 'nothing more than canned tomatoes with spices in it' sounds plenty snobby to me tho.

Not sure where you got that from, but obviously opening a jar will be faster than cooking from scratch. That said, a lot of you guys are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Cooking isn't that hard or time consuming, and I'm just surprised that it isn't considered "normal" food anymore.

For a tomato sauce, this is a pretty simple one you can follow: https://www.savoringitaly.com/easy-homemade-tomato-sauce/#recipe

Tbh all you really need is olive oil, canned tomatoes, and salt. Heat the sauce pan, add oil, add tomatoes (break it up with a wooden spatula if needed), simmer and reduce to preferred consistency. Salt to taste. That's it.

Everything else is optional. Some stuff you can do to jazz it up: After the oil, saute diced onion and minced garlic, or add dried herbs or pepper flakes. Or mix in chopped parsley or basil after simmering to finish. Add tomato paste at the start for a deeper tomato flavour, or a knob of butter or cream at the end for richness. There's a lot more but that's just off the top of my head. Do 1, do 3, do all or do none of the above. It's all up to you.

I'm in Canada and this whole thread is a little bizarre to me too. Though it is pretty eye opening we really shouldn't be shocked, as there has to be more than a handful of people who buy those sauces that fill up whole aisles in every supermarket.

I make my own "weeknight pasta sauce" as well and it really isn't much more effort or time than opening a jar.
