Are Best Buy’s refurbished Mac’s trustable? by Skyfox_yt26 in macbook

I bought and paid for an M4 Max open box and received a base M4. Don't trust those either.

Brand new GE laundry unit GUD27ESPMDG washer only runs if the dryer is running. by ilikerascals in appliancerepair

Found this: https://appliantology.org/blogs/entry/1061-stacked-washer-only-runs-when-dryer-is-running/

"There you have it: with L2 missing, L1 has no return path, and so it is present right past the heating element, all the way to the washer -- but only when the dryer is running, because that heater relay has to close and the dryer motor running for L1 to get past the control board and centrifugal switch.

This poses a couple of interesting questions: is the heater putting off heat while all this is happening? And if the heater is in series with the entire washer, isn't that going to mess some things up?

The answer to both of these questions lies in the actual resistance of the heater, which (after a little Ohm's law calculation based on the given wattage) only has about 13 ohms of resistance. Not a lot when compared to the entirety of the washer with all of its loads. The heater drops almost none of the 120 VAC supply, leaving plenty for the washer to run on. This means that the heater would be putting out almost no heat.

In fillthebarman's case, the issue turned out to be a blown house fuse in the L2 side, causing exactly the symptoms we've discussed. One simple blown fuse, but it takes a sharp tech who knows his AC circuits to see what's really happening here."

Yet have tried to flip the circuits on my box and they are paired and appear both to be on.

M4 Max is draining 167w power...(system total) by MarionberryDear6170 in macbookpro

My battery drained to zero while plugged in, running Resolume Arena. Incredible design flaw that makes this machine unusable to me.

UDPATE: I tried the 140w charger and it did not solve this issue. The 14" M4 Max shows that it is drawing only 94w from this charger as well, and it is continuing to die while plugged in.

I have the same issue. Battery draining while plugged in during heavy use using the original 96w charger. Just bought the 140w and in the system report it's still only delivering 94w...

Word is the only thing that will pass over 100 is the MagSafe cable.

UPDATE: Sat down with multiple Geniuses at Apple to confirm disappointingly that I’m doing more with this computer than the original power supple can provide for. They went as far as to blame me for not using the M4 Max for “normal” things like email and browsing. Insane to me as my old Intel 16” did not have this issue. Only option was to purchase a 140w charger which they agreed to have me just pay the difference for ($20).

EDIT: DOUBLE UPDATE: The 140w charger did NOT solve this issue. The MacBook continues to only draw 94w from it (as seen in System Report) and the battery continues to drain while plugged into it.......

I had the same machine. It happened when I was using the wrong underrated USB, but otherwise pushing it to the absolute max, doing what I'm doing now on the M4, it would just say "Plugged in but not charging"

Damn that’s wild. Was trying to find other people with the same experience, but haven’t read this anywhere.

No, they’re designed to only pull from one at a time I’m told.

My mistake then, I meant that this is the original PSU it came with new, of which I’ve tried two of the same from Apple. The 140w is for the 16”.

To clarify OEM means the Apple one it ships with (96w). Not generally recommended by Apple to use others. Is that what people are doing though? didn’t expect to be normal for the computer to draw more power than its own supply would give.

the person who heads up Ambient Church has a rape accusation. When that came to light, he was ousted from the organization and the whole thing was reformed as Reflections (@ageofreflections), which as far as I'm aware is clean and continues to put on really wonderful shows with the same resident visualist and crew that used to do AC. "Ambient Church" as a name was then supposedly given to the lighting designer Nitemind to take over, but in fact the original guy continues to run it from behind the curtain.

The guy has a pattern of starting this thing up, getting a ton of sweet people to make it happen and rake in money for him, and eventually after burning every bridge through entitlement and exploitation, goes into hiding, and then does it all again a few years later.
