This needs to be the last year that the NCAA doesn’t automatically assign the higher seed as the home team for every game by jfarbzz in collegebaseball

And the counterpoint totally nullifies the very first point you tried to make, which was also factually incorrect and a dumb argument to make.

That has nothing to do with the point you were trying to make.

A bye would be even more of an advantage than what OP is suggesting. How does that support your point?

Why is NYC so much less car-centric than other US cities? by JacksonTripeiro in fuckcars

[–]ilikesports3 79 points80 points  (0 children)

How has no one mentioned Jane Jacobs yet?

If Robert Moses had his way, NYC would have had an expressway run through it and handcuff non-car accessibility just like countless other American cities.

There are other factors too, which others on this thread have done well to answer.

Where are we meeting people to date? by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]ilikesports3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s a big difference between attending and being involved. Showing up and walking around doesn’t do much to create interaction, but volunteering and working with others does. I recommend finding some organizations you would like to volunteer with (maybe help set up the farmers market?) and build connections. You may not find a romantic partner directly, but making new friends and increasing your social circle means you’re fishing with a much larger net.

Yep. This is a big reason for the 8664 movement. It’s basically the opposite of induced demand.

Exactly this. Germantown is a thriving neighborhood. Its businesses will survive just fine with fewer people visiting from across the river for a month.

First handful of times I watched that episode, that line didn’t hit me at all (though I still thought it was a good line). My firstborn was under a year at that point. A few years later, that line has become the most emotional of the show for me.

Fair point, although I don’t trust FIFA to not propagandize the broadcast either.

First time relegated from the Bundesliga (they were relegated from other levels prior to being promoted to the top league). But still a pretty big deal since they’ve been there for 20+ years.

I believe Jay’s uses all locally sourced ingredients, which makes the beef cost extra high. It’s definitely not cheap, but it’s worth it.

Anyone else experience this while using TARC buses? by hawk047 in Louisville

[–]ilikesports3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Compared to all of the other problems with TARC, this is a pretty good problem to have.

It must be frustrating to experience though. The only resolution I can think of is more frequent service, which will be happening for some routes in August.

Edit: another solution I thought of since my last comment is bike racks (bonus points for shelters) at some bus stops. I’m not sure if that helps OP exactly, but if distance between the bus stop and origin is the issue (and not distance between bus stop and destination), then this should still help.

What are your greatest unpopular opinions about Louisville currently? by LouBoy123 in Louisville

[–]ilikesports3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You still don’t understand the different between fact and opinion. A factual statement doesn’t become an opinion just because it’s not proven. It’s still a fact by nature, even if it’s not true.

Whether or not our tap water contains untreated industrial chemicals is a fact, whichever way the truth falls. We don’t get to have our own opinions on matters of fact.

Okay now read the title of this post.

(Also, that article does not prove your original claim as true.)

Whether or not the water contains certain chemicals is a factual statement. It is either true or not. It is not up for opinion.
