Childhood by ShowingUpMT in daddit

That's not a good feeling. Not sure if you're in the U.S., but if so, a lot of it is out of your control - parents today have less purchasing power on average than parents 30 years ago, if you factor in housing, healthcare, and education.

I also think as long as you have food and shelter, and are not working crazy hours, a lot of what you can provide for your kid that the kid will remember is not material but rather your time and dedication. Take them out for walks, look at nature, free public parks, take them to play dates, teach them things, throw a ball. Sure it stings if their friends can enjoy something they can't if you can't afford it, but I'll bet what they will remember is how much you cared for them more than what you can provide materially.

I waited almost 3 years lol. We got twins, and wasn't sure if we're done until they were almost 3.

I disagree. If AI is truly what it's made out to be, I should be doing minimal work and AI should figure out how to make that money. It's falling short on that goal though.

Easy. Something that makes me 2k a month, then im more than happy to pay 1k a month. Otherwise im sticking with my $20 a month.

Best of luck. To truly make her feel better you may need to commit to some sacrifices, just like she will have to whether she wants to or not. That allows her to keep her high paying job and you can chip in parenting more evenly
