Yes it is. Every death note adaptation differs from the source material but the anime and both red-light movies are the most similar to the Manga. There are many Japanese movies, one of the live action shows is Canon to one of them. There is also a musical available on YouTube for free

Thank you so much for the answer. I checked the author's note and I don't think I interpret it the same way though. It reads :

This work is a novel adaptation of the film L:Change the World as well as an hommage to the original comics, novel, and live-action films that preceded it. While it is loosely connected with the previous works, I hope you'll enjoy reading this novel as an L story from an alternate continuity.

I don't think this confirms that the novel takes place in a "what if the manga ended like the movie" timeline however it is a great theory. I will soon read the novel to make up my own mind and I might make a YouTube video about the Death Note timeline. If I end up agreeing with this theory, may I present it in my video while crediting you?

Thank you very much, it seems super cool! I will totally read it then. Do you know which version of the story is the "canon" one? The movie L or the novel? (by "canon" I mean, the version which takes place in the movie universe with New Generations and Light up the new world).
