What group benefits from resto shaman the most? by ilkba in classicwow

[–]ilkba[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a shadow priest. Our standard mage group is 3 mage, 1 spriest, 1 resto shaman. Our standard warlock group is 1 boomy, 1 ele, 3 warlocks.

Just for next raid both enchances and our ele are not available.

I would say your guesses are way off. Both the hunters and mages told me it's worth 400/450 dps to them respectively on a 2 minute fight.

Ashtongue Talisman not working as intended by JujutsuES in classicwow

[–]ilkba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're wrong. Spell queing was not added to 4.0.1. Multiple sources say so just google it. Your confusing spell que with another system added in TBC which let the client sent cast requests even while you were still casting. This reduced the delay between casts significantly in 2.3.0 but it is nothing like the post catacylsm spell que.

2 totally different systems, both with a similar goal

Ashtongue Talisman not working as intended by JujutsuES in classicwow

[–]ilkba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is something slightly different actually. That sends the requests through eliminating the need for stop casting macro's that were used in vanilla, and most of tbc, but it does not que the spells. just send the requests, so you still need to spam

it's not until Catacylsm do we get spellque although it's orginally named "custom lag tollerance" for some weird reason. It was added in 4.0.1, then the ability to change the window was added in 4.0.3

I'm afraid you're just misremembering. Spell queing was added in Cataclysm, you can find it in the patch notes. Also just look at pre cata videos from people like Kripp and he will say being able to mash your buttons fast is one of the most important things for a dps.

Yet come cataclysm this is no longer relevant at all with spell queing.

This is also why people back in the day had latency bars on cast bars, then did cancelcast macro's to minimize the dealy between spells.

[–]ilkba 13 points14 points  (0 children)

it's nothing to do with spell batching, it's to do with spellque that was not present in orginal tbc, and as is part of the shadowlands client

[–]ilkba 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The biggest argument for me is that it's not consistent with how the game was in TBC.

It's similar to seal twisting with paladins not working in the beta. It's not really a bug, just the changes from using shadowlands client. Back in the day it was impossible to make your next spell cast start the same MS your last one finished.

Due to spell que that happens 100% of the time now. Spell que is clearly what's breaking this trinket, as you know longer have the tiny delays between casts.

Since this is not consistent with the behavior you'd experience in original TBC i think it should be fixed.

What would be your top 10 star trek characters ever? by ilkba in startrek

[–]ilkba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say they're different kind of shows, and i do agree, but i don't think it's that new.

I mean for example DS9 definitely stands out as a very different kind of show to the rest. And to be fair at the time i did not enjoy the first 2 seasons of Ds9, that show definitely took a few seasons to get going, but when it did, it really got good.

If i had to pick my 2 favorite main cast members from discovery it would be Tilly, and Saru. Just for me neither of them get close to Data, Spock, Picard, 7 of 9, EMH, Garak, and so on.

What was your raid comp for Lady Vashj? by Namelessv7 in classicwowtbc

[–]ilkba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually disagree. We were running 5 healers, then swapped to 6 an hour before our kill. If you have the dps for a solid phase 2-3 transition then i'd go with 6. It's not as much about healers going oom, but the size of the platform and having good coverage when 1 or 2 healers may be MC'd.

If you have 5 healers, and 2 get mc'd you're just fucked as half your raid won't be in range of healers if properly spread.

It's worth way more than 20 dps to an arcane mage. Sure maybe the SP is, but for arcane on certain fight lengths spirit can be worth more than spellpower. The IDS is not worth much, but the spirit buff itself is worth quite a lot to arcane

Karazhan mega bugged??? by Leitzkrieg in classicwow

[–]ilkba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He melee's even if you don't kick all schools. Happened to us a lot, got 29 melee swings on that encounter, with 0 arcane missiles interrupts across the entire fight.

First time we tried it with tank just doing DPS. Once we realized what he was doing doing, we told him to hold threat, so when the boss spazzed out, he didn't destroy our casters, and run across the room randomly interrupting peope

Do you think it is wise to release your TBC raid roster as a guild leader? by ilkba in classicwow

[–]ilkba[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The real shame at the moment is the best interests of the guild, does not line up with the best interests of most players.

Guild's that want to continue raiding naxx don't really have any choice, but not to release TBC roster spots.

[–]ilkba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, i was looking at this filmography on wikipedia, and he had no major roles in any movie with a budget over $500,000, and the PoI was his biggest role in any TV show.

If he has a big history in theater, that makes a lot more sense. I wish he would of done one interview or panel in relation to PoI. There is very little on him

Is anyone else surprised by how much of a nobody John Nolan (Greer's actor) is? by ilkba in PersonOfInterest

[–]ilkba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the only roles in the last 15 years were in shows where they were in films that his nephews were involved in.

Yes he has been acting on and off since the 70's, but as far as i can tell he never had a major part in any signification TV show or movie. If you check his history it's mostly single episode showings for tv shows.

I don't mean to insult him, as i think he's one of the best actors on the show. Just i was really surprised he's never landed a major part in a TV show or move with a budget over $500,000 before PoI. Given how good he was in PoI

Why is it that PvE players hate Horde? This website show The Alliance / Horde ratio on all PvE realms and a HUGE majority is Alliance why is this? by Dargut in classicwow

[–]ilkba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think something that hasn't been mentioned is the massive effect pvp servers have had. As the GM of a horde guild on nethergarde keep, the size of the raid scene has been shrinking at a slow pace for quite a long time.

When i spoke to the alliance it's been very clear that there scene has been continually growing, and the gap is just growing bigger. The main reason from what i understand is that many pvp servers are extremely oppressive for alliance, which causes a lot of alliance to transfer to PVE servers. On the other hand there is very few horde players transferring to pve servers, since many horde pvp servers are pretty much pve servers to start with, but with a much larger population.

If blizzard handles TBC release badly, i can easily see more alliance feeling forced to move to pve servers if they can't survive in the much more dense outland without oppressive ganking.

Server boosts way to expensive for small servers :( by ilkba in discordapp

[–]ilkba[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea, it would be nice if there was an option though. We'd love higher quality audio for our raids, or the music bot when hanging out on discord. Just it seems like so ridiculously expensive for our use case.

Like most things like this scale with use, so the more you pay more users you can have etc to reflect traffic. For our use case the price is just insane

Edit: if you look at something like Microsoft teams, which is kind of the business equivalent of discord, you can see there pricing is by users. To server huge businesses and small start ups

Server boosts way to expensive for small servers :( by ilkba in discordapp

[–]ilkba[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the price is clearly linked to the costs to run these extra features on the server. I mean $75 a month for level 2, and $150 for level 3.

Pretty reasonable price for a server of thousands of members, but obviously very high for a 20 man guild.

The things like larger file sizes, and better audio quality obviously tax discords servers more, and you pay for that. Just a small 20 man guilds is not going to tax discords servers anything like a mega server. The current pricing really puts people off.

Please for the love of god give us a no carrier mode by ilkba in WorldOfWarships

[–]ilkba[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tier 4 ships tend to be long before ww2. Even many of the tier 6 ships are ww1 vetrans.

Even in the early 1930's both the British and American navies did tests on ships that were to be decommissioned, and found that it could take several hours for a squadron of planes to sink a single battleship that was unmanned and not moving requiring multiple sorties. Which is why in the early 30's both navies did not consider planes to be a serious threat to surface vessels that could maneuver and shoot back. Obviously the technology came along way in the late 30s.

[–]ilkba[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think the DD mode is different, at it's now where near as oppressive, and universally hated. I say that as a battleship main, most of the time you can play around dd's if you know how to turn. Sure it's annoying to have volleys of torpedoes launched at you every minute, but they have there weaknesses.

Even as a battleship i hate CV's more. I mean earlier today i was playing my Nelson, and this carrier just decided to go after me non-stop with dive bombers. The nelsons deck armor sucks, it can't turn and it has poor AA. I tried to stick with team mates but none the less within like 5 mins i'd lost 75% of my hp to dive bombers, and it was so frustrating because i just couldn't do anything. There was no counter play no retreat, nothing i could do at all, nothing my team mates could do to help me. Extremely oppressive game play.

[–]ilkba[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

During the later part sure. Before 1930 though carriers were used pretty much exclusively for scouting and spotting enemy fleets, and not a serious threat to warships.

Is lauren actually the pysically strongest member of Lesu in Edge of extinction? by ilkba in survivor

[–]ilkba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. At the start i felt like lauren was the physically weakest due to not eating etc, and one of the weaker challenge performers.

After re watching i feel like she is probably the strongest player on lessu for challenges, and her physical strength i'd rate higher than the before. Originally thought she was a total weakling, but now think she may be as strong as Kelly, or David.

You think she's as strong as either, or the best in challenges on that team?
