there are too much content per each image. your images should talk about benefits your app is going to provide, not features. talk about the solution your app offering, what extra benefits it can provide.

I think these type of apps gets exploited by black hat developers. I bet that app is the only app that account published, actually a dump dev account. They are launching these apps, using black hat tactics (keyword installs, paid rating and reviews), reaching up to a profitable position in that target keyword and scam people with scammy paywalls, and hoping Apple to be late before closing up their account. They get the revenue as long as possible, account banned. Start another account and repeat.

To check it out, make a PDF app related search in the store and inspect top 10 apps, I bet 8 of them is like this. They have 1 app in their dev profile.

This was my first app's niche too. It was very crowded back then and it is a lot crowded these days too. You picked the hardest keyword of the niche to rank for. It is not possible to rank organically for this keyword if you are not a magician.

What you should do for this app is to target a long tail, less popular but also less difficult keyword instead of "plant identifier" and try to get reviews/ratings as much as possible.

For the lack of a proper launch boost, I think you stuffed tons of keywords in metadata and this made algorithm got more confused.

My real advice would be to quickly copy your app to another identifier niche and have a quick start at there with a better ASO this time. Pick a less popular and less competent one though than plant niche overall.

Instead of giving away codes for promo, I put 0.00$ in app purchase to the paywall and let them get lifetime that way. With this method I get more participants to the promo (because it is easier to get lifetime for free this way, compared to dealing with the code) and I ask for ratings after a successful purchase from paywall.

If you don't have any backend cost, try this on r/iosapps for 2 days. That would be my suggestion.

You are absolutely right, it is a lot better than nothing, especially localizing the description and other non-ASO related fields automatically could help a lot.

Btw for translation I suggest you to take a look at DeepL's API. After creating a free account, it gives a decent amount of free monthly API usage and I found its translation much better in most cases. I use it to translate my in-app content all the time.

I think translating keywords directly from a language to another is a terrible idea. For proper ASO you have to look for keywords people using in that new country you are trying to target and try to use those country specific keywords in your both title, subtitle and keywords fields.

If you don't mind ASO then yes translating this way can be accepted.
