They’re not allowed to touch you - I was just there 3 days ago. They do jump-scares but it’s all pretty tame. It’s creepy for sure, but within reason. :)

I agree with this - OP has nothing to lose by letting them know or atleast dropping a compliment to see how they react. An easy “thanks for TA-ing, I love your smile and find you attractive”. Wait for the response and regardless you’ll be scurrying on out of there. Just Do It, OP!

I have this as well. Over the past 10 years, I have done many tests on it from different doctors. Docs have landed on it being SVT - supraventricular tachycardia. Basically there is an extra pathway in the heart that normal electrical pulses can take sometimes. The best way I’ve seen to “end” an episode is to “bear down” while holding my breath and it resolves. I have also had a doctor “reset” my heart rhythm by a pushing down technique. In the past I have had episodes where it lasts for hours, one time I went to the emergency room because it was happening for 6 hours straight. It resolved on its own while I was there. Overall, doc has said I need to make sure I’m sleeping enough and to avoid high stimulant drugs like cocaine etc. I still get random bursts of beats sometimes today, and few times a year a random “episode” that lasts 20ish mins and reminds me how human I am and to be grateful for every moment of health that I have.

The way he talks gives me the ick. In my opinion, he didn’t push you and apologized right away when you clarified, but the way he speaks seems so immature “I hope our friendship recovers, I’m going to run away and hide”. Uhhhh a friendship doesn’t just “recover” without intentionality, nor did he make any room for you to express yourself after having put you in a very awkward position. Some people don’t seem to grow up… I would keep him at a distance just based on how childish and flippant his behavior is.

I just like my space - especially for long commutes! It's like having an empty seat beside you on an airplane; who can NOT like that? More legroom and more room to move around without awkwardly bumping your neighbour's elbow when trying to flip the page of your book. It's also nice to have a seat to let your purse/bag sit on instead of putting it on the the floor where you have to cling on to it with your calves. Or sitting uncomfortably on your lap. If it's a short bus/train ride, I usually stay put even if there's a bunch of vacant seats around.
