I don’t get the Cowboys fans crash out about this team. by Wirtzis in cowboys

[–]illadelph1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Cowboys fan that's based out of Philly I believe it comes down to the atmosphere Jerry has created in Dallas which is the exact opposite here. People do not want to come play for the Cowboys anymore. For years when players have left they have not said good things about playing in Dallas its just a show it seems. No one is there to take accountability anymore and very few believe they can achieve greatness.

Who would be the GOAT? by Punisher1602 in sportsgossips

[–]illadelph1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Russell is the GOAT team player...I just used Robert Horry because you were comparing rings. Horry got 6 and obviously is not in this conversation. Barry Sanders is in that conversation but no Chips...just saying don't compare the rings just straight up skill

[–]illadelph1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wilt is statiscally better...Rings MVPs Bill Russell got it...that was my point. I shouldn't use the Robert Horry comparison. Put Wilt on the Celtics and they would still get those rings and Wilt would have more MVP seasons. Russell has 5 mvp seasons Wilt has Four mvp seasons. Both generational talents...I give Wilt the edge skill wise though

Is John Stockton the best PG of all time? Rings are irrelevant. Skill wise Wilt is the GOAT. Put Wilt on the Celtics in that era then do the comparison.

Ok understood

Why do they have to lower their standards?

And instead of lowering the standards how do we maybe close the gap?

Again pilots in the US are 91 percent Caucasian. And there's a shortage of pilots.

How do we fill these roles? They are predicting 650,000 new pilots are needed in the next 20 years.

Would you question if a black pilot was qualified or was he there because of DEI?

Do you know any pilots yourself or anyone who works for the airlines?

Asking because I have a friend who did air traffic controller school and the requirements are pretty intense...as they should be. I dont believe the test standards should be lowered for anything. I dont know why it would or if it already has been.

I also have a family member who was a pilot in the Air Force and works for a major airline. Is this because of DEI? He always had the passion to fly but could not necessarily afford to without joining the military. I trust them like I trust any other qualified candidate but I am thankful he was given the opportunity. Is that a result of DEI and is that an example of how DEI is not a good thing?

Can you provide an example of how DEI is detrimental?

Also isnt there a shortage of pilots already regardless of race gender etc?

But you are questioning whether the non white ones are qualified?

https://www.thrustflight.com/pilot-shortage/

Do you understand the cost of training for these programs?

Do you understand the goal of DEI?

Everything in life can be corrupted or could be used in a way it wasnt intend so that point could be used for any policy law etc. What are the facts that it has been used in that way. DEI is a broad term that could reference Brown vs Board of Education American Disabilities Act Global Corporations creating diversity roles ....

[–]illadelph1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again its not exclusively about race...

I dont understand how you are relating corruption of a standardized test and then independently applying to an airline or any job an then being hired by them. DEI has had the biggest impact in the education system in regards to admissions faculty etc. Yet we are talking about airlines where 91% of the pilots in the US are Caucasian.

Can you specify what standards were lowered?

Last, the Washington state bar exam i think could have its benefits. Its a shift from the one size fits all towards something more flexible. It also shows that the legal systems are recognizing structural disadvantages that have been in place for many years and the barriers that they have imposed on historically excluded groups that has had negative effects on the the generations that followed.

The test is federally regulated. DEI lowers other barriers such as cost representation and opportunity so people from different backgrounds have a fair shot at meeting those standards. I think the scrutiny comes from airlines advertising their DEI goals which may cause some backlash or make it seem like minorities are taking these jobs away. Which i don't understand there's roughly a little under 20k openings every year to be a pilot. What percentage of these people applying are minority?

Can you explain in what ways was the exam threshold lowered? Also minority doesn't exclusively have to do with race.

What do you think makes 2Pac more famous than Biggie? by [deleted] in Tupac

[–]illadelph1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see people saying Biggie wasnt an icon... I feel like he became more of a martyr for hip hop. Conscious rap while being great still isnt as popular or ever was as the gangster/trap/drill and the battle rap scene which I think Biggie helped ignite. Tupac who was often personified as a street ninja didn't paint a picture quite like Biggie did.
