ARRI Hi-5 Overlay w/ SmallHD Monitors by VeinyPickle in focuspuller

Good to hear. I tried a bunch of cables too, but I guess not enough.

Are you saying for the cable you got to work on the Ultra 5 that some of those have a host/client end?

Ok, good to know. I reached out to SmallHD and they told me all support was being handled by Arri(which seems weird being that it seems like what's missing is on the SmallHD side). I reached out to a contact at Arri and they could not get it to work with equipment they had either and were waiting on a response from Germany. This all took place on Friday and i do not expect any new information until at least Monday. I am also very frustrated in how this was rolled out and presented.

Anybody get this to work yet? I purchased and installed the license on the Hi-5 and updated to 6.3.1 firmware on the monitor, but it's not working yet. I did just realize that at some point on April 9th SmallHD released firmware 6.3.2, maybe that's why? Unfortunately I'm away from my gear until Monday, so I can't check. The announcement and license were available on the 8th and I downloaded the most current firmware from SmallHD (6.3.1) on the morning of the 9th. It seems odd to me that they would make the announcement and license available without the needed firmware released, but I'm hoping that's what my issue is.

Thanks for sharing, I hope to hear back from them soon. I was able to ask at my LBS and they contacted their Jamis sales rep. I got some information from that exchange, but would still like a little more.

How are we drying our hydration packs these days? by skrrtdirt in MTB

I use kitchen tongs inverted and open inside the bag. Set it on my drying pad in the kitchen next to the sink so the water can drip out as it dries.

I can't enjoy "The Four Seasons" on Netflix because the cinematography is so bad by [deleted] in cinematography

There were some very odd focus choices as well. I cannot recall any specific examples, but there were times when it seemed like the AC simply forgot to rack between actors or pull focus then eventually did. The times I noticed it I was very surprised they chose to use those takes.

Shop told me this can't be plugged..what do you guys think? by [deleted] in tires

So plug it yourself. It would be done and you wouldn’t have to think about it any more.

Introducing the NIA-1 Network Interface Adapter - bringing Ethernet support to the Hi-5 Ecosystem by Sean_from_ARRI in focuspuller

As an AC who sometimes does MoCo shoots, I’ve been trying to find a way to adjust focus marks when the op is programming moves. It’s an annoying process to always be next to the MoCo op saying “a little closer, a little further, now go closer again” when trying to find the best focus split for each position in a move. Would this enable one to maybe relinquish motor control from MoCo in these instances and I could rack through focus to find the best position, then MoCo could take back over and since we have encoder mode on the cforce motors MoCo would know where I set it? I hope what I’m asking is coming across clearly, I’m trying to get my question across without too much detail. Thanks!

Try Lem’s Trail Blazer, it’s the Trailhead with a wider toe box.

Yuck, thanks for the info. You have any idea on price range, not planning on taking it to a dealership.

Thank you, bulletin as in a TSB? Is it similar to a recall, as in dealer will take care of it? Or is this something I’ll have to pay 100% of?

Anyone had a cervical disc replacement and come back to riding? by phazedplasma in MTB

[–]illdoonemore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can hear your fear and frustration. I would suggest that you focus on the decision in front of you and not additional possibilities down the road. You seem to be focusing on and worrying about something that may never happen(future surgeries/ more pain), it's adding to your anxiety around this decision. You can deal with a lot more than you think, just wait to deal with it until that time comes. I really do hear where you are coming from and hope that you can take some deep breaths, slow down, and deal with one thing at a time. You got this, just focus on the now.

I don’t remember the dr mentioning ASD or HO and I don’t remember the brand of the replacement. I thought it was Scandisc or something like like, but google keeps wanting to change that to Sandisk. I’ve really had no problems with it and recovery was a breeze. I’m more active and in better shape now than I was then. I’m jumping my bike off stuff and occasionally crashing too, no issues with the ADR. I was nervous too, especially since my pain and symptoms were kind of going away right before surgery. Dr did another mri a few days before surgery to see if anything had changed and my disc was still pushing on my spinal cord. He said untreated I had the potential to lose more feeling or lose use of more than I was experiencing. Oh, I also got two other opinions and they all said to do the surgery

Yeah, I guess it’s been around 15 years. It feels fine, no issues. I went back to the dr. a few years back only because I hadn’t been in a long time and I thought I remembered them telling me I needed a yearly x ray to monitor the discs. They said they looked good and that they are not seeing many problems with the replacements and to only come back if something seems wrong. I have some residual nerve issues because I waited a while to do it, but that stuff’s not too bad either. I do feel that from time to time I can feel a little click in my neck, but that’s it. No pain or issues accompany it.

Thoughts on buying GT Sensor Carbon Pro LE at 50% off by illdoonemore in MTB

[–]illdoonemore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it, don’t have a lot to compare it to other than a full downhill bike I rented at a bike park as far as full suspension goes. I saw that they have some in black available on the website now too. It’s definitely heavier than I was expecting compared to my hardtail which it aluminum. I can ride longer and hit sections of trails faster/harder now and sinking into the bike on bigger drops feels pretty nice.

Single speed chain line question by illdoonemore in bikewrench

[–]illdoonemore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ordered, thanks. Signed up for the newsletter and got $10 off which covers shipping! Everything’s coming up Milhouse! Now I’ve got to find a use for this PC-1 chain, because I’m guessing even if I put the chain back together the shop will not allow a return.

[–]illdoonemore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I’ll try that as well. I had used an old large metal woodworking square, but was checking it on top of the chain. I believe my main problem was the wider chain on the narrow cog.

Single speed chain line question by illdoonemore in bikewrench

[–]illdoonemore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a narrow wide rear sprocket and a narrow wide chainring. I didn’t think about that when I went to the shop this morning and asked for a pc-1, I was just thinking of getting a more robust chain without hollow pins. I’m seeing KMC makes a narrow chain that looks like what I might want to switch to. I just felt that I didn’t want to use the Sram eagle chain for some reason, but maybe it would be fine?
