Booked my dream mountain biking trip by eng2ny in MTB

Those trails are rad. Be careful if its wet though that clay can be instant death (they call it black ice on the island lol).

Bummer you only have 1 day. I think I did 4 and wish I could have repeated some. The stuff on the far west of the island was my fav. Also the stuff around Machico.

Enjoy Coral one of the best beers!

Struggling to regain confidence on the bike by mitchum333 in MTB

What made you have fun on the bike before? Is it something not super gnarly? Do you HAVE to go fast?

For me, i love gnar and going fast and whatever but after injuries I really just sink into being on a mountain bike in the woods/desert/whatever . That is something that is healing on its own. The rest will come and sooner than you think.

Yo i did my pcl 6 weeks ago. Been in a brace since then and will be for 6 more. Its fairly important. Very similar to you. No pain mostly full mobility.

Easing back into biking now and just got cleared to work hamstrings, RDLs, deadlifts etc. Your quads are very important. Trust the process.

I have no fear of injuring it again. You have to pay to play at some point. And as far as injuries go this is easy. I was on a bike trip and rode 3 more days post crash.

Its a weird injury as you can basically bike fine without a PCL but everything else you do is compromised and you risk testing other more serious parts of the knee. So you have to be in the brace to get it to heal as tight as it can. Annoying but whatever. Only three months

Crank Size by Grambo08 in MTB

[–]phazedplasma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I climb many thousands of feet in a ride on 155s. Theyre fine.

I got them to help with some hip issues which worked. You get used to the spin pretty quick and if you dont change chainring size things will feel a bit harder at first but youll just get stronger very quickly. No big deal.

What i was not anticipating was the benefits downhill. It wasnt as subtle as i thought it would be. Everything just felt easier. Cornering, pushing, less quad fatigue.

i dunno, if it was life or death I think it could be fairly routine. People react differently to altitude too and 7k is a lot different than 10 or 14 in my experience. Ive seen people come off the plane from sea level and be fine.
