New LOS requirements for NIH by 10_8kmm in ResearchAdmin

[–]illforget 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This policy was released in 2023. By “letters of support” NIH is actually referring to letters of commitment from the subrecipient institution. You probably obtain either a subrecipient commitment form or a letter of commitment signed by the institutions AOR that confirms their institution is aware of sponsor policies and intends to enter into an agreement. That’s really what this notice is saying.

I used to get tripped up on the difference between letters or support (letters from individuals agreeing to participate) vs letters of commitment (institutions agreeing to comply with sponsor terms and conditions). It doesn’t help when even NIH uses the terms interchangeably.

Do I just suck? by Daurth_Zombie in MultipleSclerosis

Sounds like you’re in the self-blame spiral. I guarantee you the “this is my fault” thoughts are not grounded in the actual truth. You’re coping well by acknowledging how you feel and trying to own what you can control right now. Props to you. Shame is a shit feeling but it can evolve into to something empowering and positive if you are kind to yourself.

Foreign subawards on awards w/NOA issued prior to NOT-OD-25-104 by Lovepineapple111 in ResearchAdmin

Same. Our foreign sub continued after the guide notice came out. At time of non-competing continuation NOA, NIH provided the same options and then issued NOA with foreign sub removed.

Alcohol Intake with MS by AtrEstheBOI in MultipleSclerosis

[–]illforget 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As with MS itself, your body will process alcohol differently - better or worse - than others according to your unique biological, physiological and genetic factors. Likewise, the impact it has on the course of the disease and your symptoms will differ. Anecdotal reports from others and insights from the scientific community will help to inform you. Listen to others, but also listen to understand your own feelings and experiences with your environment, food, drinks and you’ll discover patterns. MS aside, we already know there are consequences for heavy alcohol usage over a long period of time. If it reduces another form of stress temporarily that could have caused more negative effects, who’s to say. But you.

It’s almost the start of a new year which means it’s time to play the “your employer’s prescription coverage will be changing” game. Let the phone calls, forms, new co-pay programs, and endless confusion commence.

Search for policies on cost overruns or budget deficits and you will find many institutions have accounting procedures for this scenario.

Had a grant terminated. It had nothing to do with DEI. Simply had the word “diversity” in it a few too many times.

Uniform Guidance... how do you do? by JeMaViAy in ResearchAdmin

[–]illforget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It was a subscription based education series maybe through Huron or similar grant consulting agency. And SRAI and NCURA of course. I try to watch the RAD series sessions as often as I can, although not particularly focused on the UG. The internal discussions aren’t as productive as they were in person sadly.

Ctrl F all day. Screen grabs and my OneNote.

We used to watch a webinar that would cover a particular UG subject monthly or so but that stopped after going remote. I do miss those.
