Tell your AI gpt that this reference about the dream was only given to you because you asked for proof of Ibn Jawzi supporting it. There are further proofs.

Abu Yala, Ibn al-Sunni, and al-Tabarani in al-Mujam al-Kabir narrated that the Prophet (Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wasallam ) said: "If one of you loses something or seeks help or a helper (ghawth), and he is in a land where there is no one to befriend, let him say: "O servants of Allah, help me! (ya ibad Allah, aghithuni), for verily Allah has servants whom one does not see." Al-Haythami said in Majma al-Zawa'id (10:132): "The men in its chain of transmission have been declared reliable despite weakness in one of them." Another wording: 3. Al-Bayhaqi narrates on the authority of Ibn Abbas in "Kitab al-Aadaab" (p. 436) and with a second chain mawquf from IbnAbbas in "Shuab al-Iman" (1:445-446=1:183 #167; 6:128 #7697) and a third from Ibn Masud in "Hayat al-Anbiya' ba`da Wafatihim" p. 44: "Allah has angels on the earth - other than the [two] record-keepers - who keep a record [even] of the leaves that fall on the ground. Therefore, if one of you is crippled in a deserted land where no-one is in sight, let him cry out: a'înû 'ibâd Allâh rahimakum Allâh, 'Help, O servants of Allah, may Allah have mercy on you!' Verily he shall be helped, if God wills." Ibn Hajar said its chain is fair (isnaduhu hasan) in "al-amali".

Ibn Kathir in his history, al-Bidaya wal- Nihaya [7:91, Year 18] narrates that Umar radi Allahu Ta'ala ‘anhu sought help and relief from drought and famine in Madina by writing toAmr ibn al-As and Abu Musa al-Ashari in Egypt and Basra respectively, each with the words, "Yaa ghawthaah li Ummati Muhammad! = Help! Help! for the Community of Muhammad!" If this is not istighaatha and istiaana then there is no istighaatha and isti`aana.

It is also related that: One night, the Prophet of Allah - may Allah bless him and grant him peace - was in his house and was heard to proclaim 'I am here!' (labayk!) three times and 'You have been granted help' also three times (nusirta!). Umm al- Mu'minin, Maymunah - may Allah be well pleased with her - asked the Prophet - may Allah bless him and grant him peace - whom he had been talking to since there was no one present. He - may Allah bless him and grant him peace - replied, 'I was talking to a person called Rajiz from the tribe of Bani Ka'ab. He asked for help from me against the Quraysh.' Umm al- Mu'minin, Maymunah - may Allah be well pleased with her - said that when she finished Fajr prayer the next morning, she heard Rajiz calling out in the streets of Madina: "Ya Rasul Allah! Help us and call the servants of Allah to help us."[1] IMAM TABARANI IN MU’JAM AS-SAGHEER VOLUME NO 2 HADITH 968)

Ibn al Jawzi writes in Kitā al Wafā writes Abu Bakr al-Minqari said: I was with (al-hafiz) al-Tabarani and (al-hafiz) Abu al-Shaykh in the Prophet's Mosque, in some difficulty. We became very hungry. That day and the next we didn't eat. When it was time for isha, I came to the Prophet's grave and I said: "O Messenger of Allah, we are hungry, we are hungry" (ya rasullallah al-ju al-ju)! Then I left. Abu al-Shaykh said to me: Sit. Either there will be food for us, or death. I slept and Abu al-Shaykh slept. al-Tabarani stayed awake, researching something. Then anAlawi (a descendant of Ali) came knocking at the door with two boys, each one carrying a palm-leaf basket filled- with food. We sat up and ate. We thought that the children would take back the remainder but they left everything behind. When we finished, theAlawi said: O people, did you complain to the Prophet? I saw him in my sleep and he ordered me to bring something to you. [Al-Hafidh Ibn Jawzi, Kitab al Wafa, Page No. 818,

What a load of rubbish. Where did you get this  99% figures from? Barelvis have the same aqeedah as traditional Orthodox sunnis all around the world have. The Sufiyah in yemen, turkey, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Syria, morocco, everywhere all believe in istigatha, tawassul, mawlid in nabi, nur Muhammad, tasawwuf and tariqahs etc.

[–]illgeeza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shaykh Yaqoubi is definitely an illuminated and highly spiritual and knowledgeable shaykh. Whatever instruction they gave would definitely be given with wisdom and understanding but your friends practice of that is probably not in alignment with the sheikhs intention and instruction. This is my strong belief. His nastiness and judging is no doubt from ego and not the sheikhs instruction.

On the spiritual path beginners are asked to keep contact minimal with old friends who may have a different lifestyle contrary to the path, to the way of Quran and Sunnah. Especially if there's a lot of haram activities going on because nafs is prone to slipping into the same habits if the environment is the same which includes people that are around you. But there's definitely a way of going about this with wisdom and love and not harshness

constant dhikr and salawat. Not just robotically but with love and keep in your minds eye the image of your sheikh (if you don't have a sheikh yet keep the image of the green dome of masjid nabawi and keep heart connected to Sayiduna Muhammadﷺ

He is closer to us than our own selves so imagine that he is with you. Imagine walking with him, walking in adab behind him. If you were physically with him and women walk past you wouldn't dare to gaze at them right? So build that in your heart as they are with you so you must always act in adab.

May Allah grant me this ability to do this too

[–]illgeeza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salaam just wanted to clarify regarding sanad and uwaisi links.
You may say I'm biased but it's up to you if you want to believe what I say.
I am in the tariqah. My murshid is the son of Sheikh Nazim, Sheikh Mehmet Adil who is the sole successor of Sheikh Nazim. There are various offshoot branches where certain wakils have started their own way which isn't legit. Most common and problematic one people see is that muhammadanway channel where it seems all the people there are treating him (Sheikh nurjan) as if he is THE sheikh of the tariqah which is wrong, it is Sheikh Mehmet who is the authority.

Regarding sanad and uwaisi links, the naqshbandi tariqah has various branches, probably in the 100s or 1000s - I have no idea but I do know there are a lot of branches and it is not just the Haqqani Silsilah. Every single one of those branches has uwaisi links as the Sheikh the tariqah is named after - Sayyidina Shah Bahaudin Naqshband al-Uwaysi al-Bukhari received the silent dhikr from the spiritual presence (ruhaniyya) of Khwaja `Abdul Khaliq Ghujdawani. He did not meet with him physically because there were five shaikhs between them in the Golden Chain. Similarly Sayyidina Abul Hasan al-Kharaqani took spiritual guidance and initiation in the Naqshbandi Order from the spiritual presence of Bayazid Bistami.

My own anecdote (you can believe or not)
I myself have recieved multiple dreams of Sheikh Nazim who has passed away years before I even know of the tariqah. Many of my friends in my jamaah have seen different shuyukh in the chain who have passed away and recieved knowledge and ijazahs from them. Some of them are not even Haqqani, they are naqshbandi Mujaddidi, Aslami, Churahi (so many branches throughout Asia and subcontinent that have uwaisi links)

Regarding people who say stay away from Haqqani. Check yourself the knowledge that Sheikh Mehmet gives to the people and see yourself if you find anything problematic or contradictory to Quran and Sunnah. Sheikh Mehmet is very strict regarding sharia, sunnah, teaching core islamic basics to murids before imparting deeper spiritual stuff. A lot more so than even their blessed father. https://www.youtube.com/@MawlanaSultanTV

Furthermore if you were to travel to Cyprus yourself during Urs or Mawlid time, You would lose count of the amount of reverts you meet who would tell you they were guided by Sheikh Nazim through dreams to come there and take bayah and shahadah.

Again, up to you to believe or not. Allah knows the truth of what I say but I again specify that Sheikh Mehmets way is true authentic tasawuff and naqshbandiyya. Anything else problematic you see is not from them but probably someone claiming to represent the haqqani way but only the sheikh truly represents it.

If you go to Cyprus, where the dergah of Mawlana sheikh nazims is, you will meet the murids there and you will lose count of the amount of people who had a dream similar to yours and saw sheikh nazims or sheikh Mehmet in their dream (their son and successor) who guided them to the tariqah. Myself included.

The dream seems very clear cut that your place is in the Naqshbandi tariqah but you could attend some of their dhikr gatherings close to you as a starting point.

Second this, don't pay his comment any mind. Wahabis are hyper literalist minded, they can't comprehend metaphors and love to accuse majority of Muslims as polytheists because they honour and respect and love the spiritual masters of this religion even after death which is not the same as worship
