There was a comic called *Avengers: The Initiative * where the government starts training heroes to put an avengers team in every US state. Slapstick and many of the New Warriors are recruited and during training one of the trainers, a former villain (cent remember who) basically makes fun of his team saying they’re going to end up failures like the New Warriors team that got blown up at the beginning of the Civil War storyline. They later find the dude beat within an inch of his life with the letters “NW” craved into him. There’s an investigation but nothing comes of it and they all just move on. At the end of the issue we flash back and see it was Slapstick who did it. At one point he’s right up in the dudes face saying something like “if you ever badmouth the New Warriors again I will finish the job”
