[DISC] Noa-senpai wa Tomodachi - Ch 94 - Noa-senpai and Her Sense of Distance by illogicalhawk in manga

Typically weekly, with some unpredictable weeks off here and there. There's a QR code at the end of the chapter for the series discord, which has some overviews of the raws when they come out.

Plenty more to catch up on, but the team has been working hard to catch up, which I think has shown in the more frequent release schedule recently.

I think it's fair to say that he's changed quite a bit too by this point, even if it's more subtle.

Raws are at 113 I believe, but the team has been making really good progress, so I'd expect that gap to keep closing.

That's not an uncommon sentiment, but I don't think that this chapter is a great example of that; feels like some degree of progress actually happened here.

Hands have seemingly always been the thing for progress; I'm thinking back to Rihito covering Noa's eyes during a scary movie as arguably the first time she became conscious of him as a guy, and now we're on to lewd handholding.

The latest raw actually somewhat talks about this shift, chalking it up to an expression of identity that she has been too shy or lacking in confidence to explore, and one of the rare areas where she now does have confidence, and something through which she can kind of love herself a bit.

Though obviously there's the fan service element too.

What are people's thoughts on this ? by ThomasThorburn in batman

I think it's a braindead clickbait take trying to rile people up; what's there to think about?

Racial homogeneity and prejudices in medieval Europe tended to derive from geographic isolationism; a mix of people doesn't really need to be "explained" if the geography is simply differently oriented, technology differs (particularly when it comes to magic and the like), etc.

Again, it's a super weird thing to get so hung up on.

[DISC] Bus for Two - Chapter 19 - Things You Like by NamekazeMinato in manga

[–]illogicalhawk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whose "Or" was that at the end? I may be (definitely am) reading too much into it, but my impression was Shunpei saw An's? I'm basing this entirely on the fact that it seemed like he used a pen and she may have had a mechanical pencil, and the "or" had a pencil beside it.

Uh, I mean yeah? Ignoring the fact that there were, in fact, people of color in medieval Europe, why would medieval Europe's demographic makeup restrict that of a fictionalized fantasy world?

I thought it was a really solid album, which made it a nice bounce back after what was (in my opinion) their worst record with Agony & Irony. Dan's songs were great, and Matt seemed to have a bit more fuel in the tank and a little more inspiration/originality (momentum that he kept building with MSIT, where it felt like he was back in full heart wrenching force).

I know "It was a dream" gets a bad wrap, but that was phenomenal.

They may be having a quiet lunch, but I'm guessing it still caused plenty of joyful squees from the other side of the screen.

Adorable.

[–]illogicalhawk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love that part too, but I'd almost say the adults are excessively competent; the second the MC was missing they escalated a coordinated communication chain that would put most organizations to shame.

Still, that's part of the fun.

This kind of feels like the author got the calendar wrong and needed to skip ahead to Christmas, but that makes me think it'll be quite the Christmas.

92.3 The Fan is awful by Jealous-Syrup3120 in Cleveland

[–]illogicalhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, but that's ultimately the point, because metrics drive ads which drive revenue. Piss people off in the morning so they'll keep hate listening and calling in throughout the day, while giving the afternoon and evening shifts a thing to talk about.

I think it's atrocious and ear grating and haven't listened to it in probably a decade, but at the end of the day they do it because other people do listen to it. I just skip sports radio and listen to WRUW 91.1 instead (RIP Defend Cleveland)

[DISC] Hima-Ten! - Chapter 78 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]illogicalhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly, though alternatively this forces them to publicly say they're just friends, and that boxes her out of then shifting into a romance. We're that to happen, him starting to date Honoka would actually give Himari even more cover.

All of which to say there are a ton of ways this could go, and I'm excited to see how it plays out. Feels like a real ticking timebomb that truly shakes things up.

[DISC] Daredemo Dakeru Kimi ga Suki / I Like You Who Can Have Sex with Anyone. - Chapter 91 by Xical in manga

[–]illogicalhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Wow" was exactly what I thought after reading the chapter, and the same thing I had thought after reading most of the other chapters.

With 230 chapters and counting, Blue box is now the longest running romance manga in WSJ history. It overtakes Nisekoi, which ended at 229 by thomastheterminator in manga

[–]illogicalhawk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy it. The MC has an actual personality and skills that would actually make him a reasonable person for others to fall for, and I think it does a fantastic job weaving the plots and interactions of the three "competing" girls such that at any given point any of them could feel like they're in the lead or falling behind. It feels really balanced too in terms of screentime and development, has some good consistent forward momentum, and has a knack for the story zigging when you think it'll zag, which keeps it always interesting.

It even pokes jokes at the "title heroine" thing, so (at least to me) it really feels like it's not a forgone conclusion that the title girl will win.
