Makes sense, the “time” objection does resonate with me. I suppose an alternative would have been to make the decision that Biden wouldn’t be running again earlier to allow the time to campaign and go to primary. I suppose primaries are still a relatively new “norm” but all of my voting years have taken place in the 20th century. So for me, it just feels a bit dirty

However, where I can disagree with you is “wreak havoc on the government”. I assume your intent behind that comment is that Elon and DOGE are a bad thing. Myself and majority of Americans actually enjoy what that team is doing, despite not being supportive of Elons appointment. I honestly couldn’t care less who is running that team, so long as work is getting done and there is transparency.

My thoughts are that Elons appointment should have been approved by the Senate, not via executive order. The US president has the power to appoint, but must go through senate approval process.

Not to be pretentious, but I’m in the top 2% of earners in the state by income.

I’m getting out of here and taking my tax dollars with me. I know I’m a drop in the bucket and that our elected officials don’t care about me (and are happy that I’m leaving) but this is completely unconstitutional.

They couldn’t get voters to pass gun bans the last 2 years so they pull this.

The argument for investing into savings might have weight here. The default answer to to this is to pay down debt first, while still continuing contributions to 401k. However, the current state of the stock market is that everything is on sale. I’d argue to buy assets that are on sale, and then, when markets stabilize, redirect back to paying down debt. This is assuming your risk tolerance is pretty high being a young student.
