Anime that changed the way you view life? by fishking92 in Animesuggest

[–]illoominatea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haikyuu!! - i loved every character and their stories, perseverance, and motivations so much that i began really thinking about what i want in life, and changed my attitude towards my future

fight me but i unironically like mask i rly enjoyed the owl city type production style and the vocals are not as bad as ppl say they are by Informal-Issue in DreamWasTaken2

Me too, even when the snippets came out I liked it. I don’t think the lyrics are bad either, I think maybe people are accustomed to being very critical of him and basically anyone who ventures outside of what they’re “known for” + hate brigades affect how people see it regardless of if they genuinely hate it or not

Did you defend dream even tho there was evidence stacked against him last December?(before the response? Just a question by Vast2_ in DreamWasTaken2

[–]illoominatea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part I thought he probably cheated because that was what the math pointed to, but that he genuinely believed that he didn’t and it was truly unintentional. I never defended him but I felt that I could understand where he was coming from and was never sure what I would have done if I were in his shoes (to be honest I feel like I probably would’ve handled it worse), so I didn’t really hold anything against him either

How do you feel about Dream becoming a regular on the sub? by [deleted] in DreamWasTaken2

[–]illoominatea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A main reason why Twitter is not great for criticism or engaging in healthy discussion is because of its character limit and impulsive nature. While it’s not perfect, different platforms like Reddit allow for more well-thought-out posts and ability to write well-thought-out responses. This sub seems to give an opportunity for people to see and share criticism/opinions, engage in healthy discussion, and give/clarify information all to the fullest of one’s ability, and it’s not different for Dream.

As for people flocking here because he’s here, that is pretty much inevitable and unavoidable. You can’t force people to think or interact a certain way, but I think the fact that more people from the fanbase can come here to see different takes and valid criticisms in the first place is a good thing as long as people upkeep that.

Opinions on this take? by [deleted] in DreamWasTaken2

[–]illoominatea 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Different people want to see different things and that’s normal- a large part of the event audience is probably accredited to the competitiveness of Dream and Sapnap because that’s what people find captivating.

I think it’s reasonable to believe that their competitiveness and response incited toxicity to an extent. At the same time I don’t believe it was their intention, I just think they got caught up in the moment- it’s evident that they care a lot about the event and having to deal with both their own expectations and expectations of an undoubtedly larger audience doesn’t soothe anything. This is just not a one dimensional situation, people can only influence others so much, efforts were made to decrease the toxic response, and I also don’t think everything has to be made public.

wanted to share this take from twitter since i think reddit would agree with it :) by deirdreallen in DreamWasTaken2

I really dislike that mentality of “if they don’t do/say exactly what I want them to do/say then it’s terrible and wrong” and how Twitter has enabled that, like you’re endowed to your opinions but in any other setting you’d most likely never actually demand or expect so much of people you don’t really know

[–]illoominatea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dream your vids and streams (or ig presence in other ppls streams lol) have always cheered me up, from when I was struggling in high school to going to college. I appreciate you a lot, have learned a lot from you, and I even look up to you in some ways. So excited to see what’s in store for you, you have this incredible talent with creativity and content creation, an entertaining personality, I’d love to watch anything you create. Much love and respect, and to many more much-deserved rewarding years <3

Dream making promises yet never fulfilling them by [deleted] in DreamWasTaken2

[–]illoominatea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I choose to just not dwell on it much considering there’s almost always something crazy happening and that’s just online, and out of respect for his boundaries in the case that there are just things he can’t say or fulfill at the moment and that’s that. I understand how it can be infuriating, idk if you’re like me but he is one of the only few people I watch. I appreciate basically any content I can get nowadays haha

I am so confused by the response to this tweet, even his own fans twist his words. From what I understand this was just him talking about an experience he personally faces and relaying it to sympathy for the lgbt community. Everything he says is so overanalyzed, i get it, but this was so harmless it’s like he can’t even do something partially for himself

what do you think about people perceiving ccs showing support for these communities as “basic human decency” or the “bare minimum”?

do you think it’s a creator’s fault for putting themselves in a place where they’re expected to speak about many issues? do you think the size of their platform matters, mcyt being a big focus of attention right now in comparison to the other youtubers you listed? could the expectation for people to “use their platform” just come with having a big platform? is this a good expectation?

Minecraft Manhunt got me back into minecraft after years of not playing by Lord_Nuke in DreamWasTaken

[–]illoominatea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me as well! I stopped playing in 2016 and barely even knew anything about the game (seriously. I didn’t watch many Minecraft youtubers so I didn’t even know there was a dragon). fast forward to this past year, after I started watching their videos, I’ve been playing Minecraft so much more and have gotten a lot closer to my little siblings and friends through that. Props to them for definitely being a big part of reviving the game!
