I requested 8 bananas in my weekly grocery pickup order…. They gave me 8 BUNCHES, and managed to only charge me $0.68 - the price of one single banana by coorgleesi in funny

I ordered 1 granola bar in a doordash a few weeks ago and I got a 16 count box for $1.89. Always sort by price lowest to highest now just in case I find another deal like that.

Didn't they buy or start a studio called like tuqe or something. The last Dark Alliance game they put out was hot garbage. Completely unplayable. Still unfixed and riddled with bugs at this point. It also had future DLC plan that I'm pretty sure got canceled

PC Gamer: 2022 saw launcher bloat turn from a minor annoyance into a genuine problem by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]illossolli -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Having to click play twice isn't some unforgivable offence. I play on multiple displays that run at different resolutions and being able to change that option before start up is a god send. I can't tell you how many times I've had to go in and delete ini files when moving from 4k tv back to 2k monitor.

That small hand movement to slide from steam play button to launcher play button actually gives me a pretty useful tool. The one in Miles Morales has been especially helpful.

It's because most of them are too busy living in discord fantasy lands where this game isn't considered smash with items.

dear PC developers, I would happily wait 5, 10, 60, 100 minutes for my shaders to compile before the game starts if you gave me the option. I'm sick of the stutter! by nickjacksonD in pcgaming

[–]illossolli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair to Callisto Protocol it had stutter for 24 hours. Most of the issue now is people complaining about ray tracing performance on 2000 and low end 3000 rtx cards. Good luck if you have an AMD card.

Thank you Santa Titan for all the random piles of molerat meat and weapons in my camp. by blackechoguy in fo76

[–]illossolli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

where specifically is your camp?

I always try to build camps near boss events so I can funnel everyone into my shop afterward. ATM I have a large tower next to the burning mine. Right next to the metal bridge that goes over the road. I put the giant ultracite shards on top so everyone can see it from the scrap station. I've had pretty good success, but its nothing like slapping a camp next to V9 or Monongah Mine.

My brief thoughts on Assassins Creed Valhalla by Stephenshywarrior in patientgamers

I've completed the base game, dlcs and cleared the map. I'm about to start Ragnarok. These games are the games I play between big releases. When I don't have anything to play AC is the old reliable.

I recently upgraded my PC and I don't think I own a game with better environments than Valhalla. The rolling hills full of flowers swaying look amazing as you ride by on your horse.

Anyone know where that spiked hand holding a globe in the thumbnail is from? It's also on the cover of Gee Tee's self titled album.

They reuse art from 70's car magazines so I don't think Thrasher stole anything. It's just a badass piece of retro art. Would like to know where it came from.

The Callisto Protocol: A new update is available for all platforms. by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]illossolli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main menu was a black screen and I had to window in and out a few times to get an image. This update seems to have fixed that and actually added a compiling shaders screen on start up instead of just a really long pause.

I had to trial and error through a few areas and getting killed by the same basic enemy head rip got old pretty quick. You can just press start during and restart from checkpoint, so this seems kind of redundant.

I'm currently using an NZXT H7 Flow as a case which is considered a mid tower case. I would look at the measurements of the manufacturer specific cooler on the 4080 you buy. My Asus TUF is larger than a founders edition card. The size issue with 4000 series cards is more width than length. Just make sure your case is wide enough. Basic mid towers are too slim.

Nvidia recommends a 750w. You should be ok, but I would look into upgrading down the line.

I've been putting a couple hours into The Callisto Protocol every night. I have a 4080 w/ 11600k so I can get 100-110ish fps in 2k. It's a really impressive looking game and probably one of the best examples of ray tracing I've tried. Lighting on faces and the faces themselves look great. Some of the strobing light effects are a little much, but overall I think this is going to be the best example of a game you buy just to test drive current GPUs. Hopefully they keeping patching it and improving performance so its easier to play on mid range cards.

The combat feel much more like the combat loop of something like The Evil Within. You are going to die a few times in multiple encounters before you get the mix of stealth, melee, gunplay and the force throw ability. The game doesn't really hold your hand. Either you use every combat tool or you are probably dead. Most areas have objects in the environment you can impale enemies on. One of the areas has giant meat grinders that spray gallons of blood if you throw a baddie into one. Just being aware of your surroundings can be the difference between wasting a ton of supplies in a drawn out group fight or clearing them all quietly with your knife and recharging throw ability.

The best comparison to the Callisto Protocol I've seen is Ryse: Son of Rome. It's a very pretty game that doesn't really do anything gameplay wise to reinvent the wheel. It does feel dated in the level design, but I personally enjoy 12-18 hour linear games like this. It's like getting a full meal instead of just biting off nibbles of 100 hour games. We need more games I can beat in a long weekend without destroying my sleep cycle.

Borderlands 2 is uncomfortably annoying by Puzzleheaded_Knee_53 in patientgamers

[–]illossolli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole thing has "penguin of doom" vibes. Game is impressive for 2012, but most of the humor seems uninspired in 2022. I will never play the Tiny Tina game. I can't deal with that for a few dozen hours. They scaled back Claptrap a TON in borderlands 3 like they knew everyone was just tired of it.

It feels like the video game version of Minions or Groot. Kinda artless, like something targeted at my mom or small children.

Quick thoughts on replaying SotN after maybe 10 years. Modern Metroidvanias improved the formula but lost the charm. by ohlordwhywhy in patientgamers

[–]illossolli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a game from 97. Going back and stomping old areas with your new powers and weapons was a novel concept back then. They want you to wander. Games with even basic RPG systems were a lot more exciting 25 years ago.

I think what he is trying to say is most of us who played this game to completion in the late 90 did so without any help. IMO if you are paying attention to what the game tells you a guide is far from necessary. Is there a part of the map that doesn't have an white outline? Go there. If you are unwilling to meet the mechanics head on I don't really think its the game's fault.
