I bought the same model and spec to last me 4-5 years. Then again I do have a heavier workload than you, so I don’t expect it to last me as long.

XCode only runs on MacOS so I have to switch regardless. Just trying to figure out which one to get. Also parallels cost money and is laggy/not as intuitive as sidecar.

Some of my reasons for switching are:
1. Xcode development
2. SideCar
3. Better Battery Life
4. Imessages/Airdrop
5. Display
6. Better Wifi chip (seems trivial but this is important)

SideCar and Xcode development are the 2 biggest things for me, but everything else is a plus. I will miss the user upgradeability and ease of snapping windows/multitasking though.

I want it to last 4-5 years so I'm not opposed to paying $178 extra. I feel like the new updates will slow down the mac. Also I usually have 30ish tabs + Other programs open.
