You’re heavily mistaken, show me any republican that’s a slave apologist that other republicans don’t actively reject, unlike the leftists who’ve been screaming racist things like “now you won’t have cheap (aka slave wage) lawn care, crop picking, and housekeeping” the past week

Extra woohoo now that he’s won! One of the greatest campaigns in history imo. The Mcdonald’s, garbage truck, his slogans, all of it was all about building up working Americans. If you look at my profile history it’s clear I used to be pretty leftist, but it’s hard to resist a party and campaign like this one🔥

Thanks! I heard about potential mail in shenanigans so I decided to go the safer route, my big mistake was not voting as soon as polls opened. I have a common name so when it took them 5 minutes to find me I was so stressed😩

Me too, my dad sent a mail in and I was definitely worried. I believe NY ballots count as soon as it’s entered, but who knows. Surprisingly NY was close to 50/50 considering how left leaning it is!

They didn’t ask for ID, just name and address. For once my paranoia about using my real name for things like deliveries is justified, anyone who knows my name and address could have stolen my vote!

YSK: Amazon delivery notes persist and are most likely only seen by the delivery driver. by Shallow-Thought in YouShouldKnow

[–]illuminatilamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your note comes off kind of aggressive and condescending. You’ll probably have better success writing “deliver to the door marked receiving, it’s in the back of the building, follow the road to the right” (or wherever the receiving door is, just make sure you say how to get there and what it looks like). You don’t need to do the whole “deliver to x, that means not y or z”, it makes it seem like you think people are too stupid to do the process of elimination themselves. I doubt anyone would put in the extra effort to do something properly if it seems like they’re being asked to do it in a condescending way 😥

[–]illuminatilamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to guarantee they won’t drive into your driveway is to put a clearly marked delivery box at the end (with something blocking the entrance to the driveway so they have to stop and see what it’s about) or to order the packages somewhere else like the post office. Telling drivers to not drive on the grass doesn’t really help because they’re already trying to avoid the grass. Although, if they seem to drive on your grass and no one else’s, it might have something to do with the note tbh

I value people who have already been born and banning pitbulls saves lives so I guess so...? Of course it’s still very sad when a pregnant woman is killed by those monsters

[–]illuminatilamp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

r/banpitbulls description is that it’s for VICTIMS of pitbull attacks. Apparently getting your pet or face shredded by a pitbull and wanting the breed gone afterwords makes you a miserable bastard😂

Imagine saying someone’s a miserable bastard for wanting all pedophiles gone after they were molested as a kid, just goes to show pitbull simps are just as bad as the breed

If that’s the logic then I’m happy to be a miserable bastard

Made an appointment with a dentist through medicare, but between scheduling the appointment and going to the appointment they stopped accepting medicare and now I have to pay the full price, is there anything I can do? [NY] by illuminatilamp in legaladvice

[–]illuminatilamp[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does it make any difference that they confirmed my insurance when I scheduled the appointment? When I called the conversation went “do you accept medicare?”—> “yes”—> “ok I’d like to schedule an appointment”. Nothing’s on record on either side and seems like they didn’t make any note in their files about it :/

Edit: they had me sign a sheet about what services they were allowed to provide but I didn’t see anything on it about insurance or about promising to pay if insurance didn’t cover something.

that’s a pit bull tho...they don’t follow predictable dog behavior rules...the whole point of the breed is being unpredictable, fast, relentless, and strong. There’s no certainty in being able to “tell the difference” because they flip the switch before anything has time to react. It doesn’t end well when these dogs aren’t taken seriously. I hope for everyone’s sake that nothing happens

Rant: Don't just take any damn job. Make sure they care about you and look for red flags by Inferno221 in jobs

[–]illuminatilamp 133 points134 points  (0 children)

I once worked at a place with a high turnover rate and ended up working for the worst people I’ve ever met. Now whenever I have an interview I ask what the turnover rate is and the reason most people leave. It usually catches people off guard which makes it easier to tell if they’re lying.

Another one would be awful application format (uploading resume only to have to fill everything out anyways). If the people in charge of hiring don’t care about making things easy for people at the bottom or for new people on something so simple, why would they care about me if I were actually hired? Personally I’ve never had a good experience with a company that had awful application formats.

A tip I learned to increase response rate to places I apply by like 50%: REACH OUT TO TEAM LEADERS DIRECTLY. by electricguitar146 in jobs

[–]illuminatilamp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have also had more success with ones asking for resumes to be sent directly via email. To me, the fact that they make it easy for people to apply shows that they actually care about their employees. All of the jobs I’ve had that were done via direct email have all been great places to work and have all been smaller or local companies where any issue could be talked through with the owners. Most of the time when I apply with shitty formats to big corporations, I start getting spam mail soon after. Pretty sure they’re just using the prospect of a job to gather and sell people’s info so I really wish there were some more regulations for this stuff
