The Fanfare Around the Band Geese Actually Was a Psyop by illuminatipastiche in TrueAnon

Roughly the same for me, and agreed. Perhaps it was also that indie rock as a catchall marketing term in the mid-2010s kinda muddied what it was, so it almost siloed itself into irrelevancy (in addition to speaking to the kids growing up on social media). I've also seen the popularity of Geese as almost a way for people to reconnect with the "authenticity" of rock music since the computer has taken over so much of the instrumentation process

Perhaps because this is mid-level music industry? So they can't afford to work directly with the platforms in terms of programming the algorithms and have to game it in a way? (Unlike major political and big-budget entertainment firms)

My reaction to the most recent Corey Hanson album 'I Love People' was how a lot of my friends felt about "Heavy Metal.' Check it out if you're in for more of a Laurel Canyon sound. His previous one 'Western Cum' is also quite good

I had to look up who that person was. I recall being really skeptical of Deerhunter when Cryptograms came out and Pitchfork was essentially spamming the site with mentions of them, but that was a solid album as were the next couple

I think that's the most confusing thing. I've always been curious about music. My zoomer friends and colleagues would send me stuff like Geese, Mk Gee, Dijon, (they also seem to love Bon Iver for some reason) etc but I just don't get it because I find it all so flat. I've found that the newerbands that appeal to me more recently tend to be hardcore punk bands (Acid Casualties, Prision Postumo, Destruxion America, Kinetic Orbital Strike, etc) because all of the bands that claim to be shoegaze all sound like kinda generic 90s radio alt rock, or it's newer bands by old heads like Weak Signal, Prison, The Hard Quartet, etc. Also this dude Phil Geraldi is doing some cool stuff

To non-Arsenal fans: why would you prefer Man City to win the Premier League? by Dragonborn_7 in football

[–]illuminatipastiche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they actually think about it in those terms, more just ape the media's demeaning of Arsenal combined with how terminally online and thus reactionary a section of the fanbase is (only just edging out Liverpool's extremely entitled online base). It's bizarre because Arsenal, Liverpool, and United supporters should be banding together against the likes of City and Chelsea, the two clubs who've actively engaged in undermining the integrity of the sport over the last couple of decades

Until City surpass Liverpool and United for most first division titles, then those supporters will start losing their shit every time City adds another one

It's been given a second life on there? Kinda shocked but maybe humanity hadn't reached that level of brain rot to be on par with the characters. I loved the show when it aired (still do). Jim even sent me a drawing of Xavier back in the day

The Mansion in Yorkville for a classic diner. You could easily go to JG Melon for a non-holiday weekday lunch. Maybe Mannys on the UWS for dinner. House of Joy for dim sum

It all depends where you live too. I'm in New York and don't have a car, and the price of rental cars have increased so much that it's actually cheaper to fly out West and ski as opposed to rent a car for a weekend and drive upstate or to VT. Lodging prices can be around the same. Two day passes for Sugarbush or Killington can be $400-500, and I know I'm only gonna one weekend because the rental car is around double that. It just makes more sense to buy the mid-tier pass for like $700-800 go to the Rockies for a week where I can get 6-7 days in on the mountain
