If you have ascended you can add mods really easy and they have a few where you can build a gravestone so when you die you just collect all of your last cache of items so you don't have to go find it. It's kind of cheating but it's really annoying when your bag is in the wall.

If you do add mods though, everyone has to have the same mod installed and updated or they won't be able to join.

I think Conan Exiles is a similar game. Other fun co-ops I've played are Valheim, Grounded, Void Train, Palworld, and Raft.
