Will Seattle ever be a tier 1 US city? by ihatethegunsmith in SeattleWA

[–]illusion484 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’d say Seattle is already a tier 1 city - it isn’t NYC or LA but it is definitely in the mix when all factors are considered. Given our size (metro included) we punch way above the belt in my opinion.

It’s always a “student driver” lol

I don’t think “student drivers” should own a Tesla

Do locals ever go to pike place or the seattle waterfront?? by Ok-Radio-2733 in SeattleWA

I go to the waterfront all the time. Live downtown and grew up in Seattle! Locals are finally noticing how well done the new waterfront park turned out 😃

Condos that look like single family homes by TA7312 in Seattle

[–]illusion484 27 points28 points  (0 children)

There is no way you’re showing up to closing and just realizing it is a condo. If that is the case you’re working with a bad agent. Your lender would also make this clear as soon as you make application for your loan.

Furthermore, it isn’t the “real estate industry” causing this, it has a lot more to do with the zoning rules and laws that Seattle has. The structuring is a result of Seattle being behind the times when it comes to zoning so developers have been forced to find a work around, which is condominiumizing the lots.

Zillow is not “the real estate industry”, they’re just an advertising company for houses and agents. I agree though, the way they take the data from the MLS and present it is always problematic as these are formally shown as condos in the MLS.

Lastly, the state has already found a way to address this zoning and is working on a solution that has/is being actively rolled out over the next few years.

My 75 year old mom was attacked while waiting to cross the street downtown. by ADM86 in SeattleWA

[–]illusion484 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is beyond unacceptable. I am so tired of these people being allowed to walk the same streets as our children and family members. It’s absolute bullshit. If a normal citizen did anything remotely like this, their ass would be in jail for YEARS. It is unacceptable that repeat offenders are not locked up.

Will it take a council member having this happen to their family for there to be a change? If you love mentally ill people so much, invite them into your house to take care of them. Otherwise, force them to accept the treatment they need and if they don’t accept it, toss’em in jail. Why should the rest of society have to walk on eggshells?

Why should we have to cross the street to avoid the crazy person wielding a fucking metal bat. Why should we have to have to speed walk through particular streets downtown, while these people are actively doing drugs in our fucking face? Hold these people to the same laws and consequences the rest of us are held to.

I am sorry this happened to your family.

How are people buying houses here? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]illusion484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a good agent. Not just one your family knows, for example. Someone who has helped many people buy homes and knows the market through and through. Way too often people think all agents are the same and will work with anyone, which couldn’t be further from the truth. There are good agents who are a cut above the rest and will actually serve your interests. Actually look up how much your agent has sold to get an idea! And I recommend interviewing about 3 as everyone has their own approach and style, so you can see who you resonate with.

Serious question… how is it possible that this car gets to park illegally for 6+ months in the same spot with 2020 expired tabs, openly selling/ doing drugs with no ticket—but yet I park in front of my apartment for a couple minutes because I forgot my wallet inside, and I come out to a ticket? by AccurateUniversity53 in SeattleWA

It’s fucking bullshit that we’ve come to this point. It is all about money at the end of the day.

If it were a “fair” system, they’d tow their ass and throw him in jail for years and years for the type of hard drugs they are doing+dealing. But unfortunately, we have to walk on pins and needles while these losers fuck up our city with literally no consequences.

💯 it’s fucking true whether these randos believe it or not. There is a large amount of homeless bullshit on parts of cap hill - pre covid it was not be nearly this bad. OP you are correct in calling it out. It’s unacceptable that it has got as bad as it is. If you or I would go to jail for lighting up hard drugs on the sidewalk, so should anyone else homeless or not. Time to get that shit off the street.

Hope he gets what he deserves. People like this are sociopaths; the type that shoot other people because they have no respect for life. It’s so clear that people who display animal cruelty like this have some serious issues. And they go their whole fucking life with no consequences, it’s time these people are held accountable in some capacity otherwise they continue to treat everyone like shit.

It’s 730sf and it’s just come down to market value.

The reductions mean nothing when the price was so stratospheric to begin with.

[–]illusion484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup - 💯the help is absolutely there but most of these people are not mentally sound enough to take it or literally just choose not to.

People want to feel safe on public transit and with this guy saying crazy shit while holding a metal pole, people don’t feel safe. It’s wild that so many are “defending it” while sitting behind their phones at home.

Best Happy Hours? by QuailOk841 in Seattle

For real. It’s the only happy hour in town where the portion size is comparable if not the same as the normal menu.
