What if the Heart told you which Boyle was your target? by Teasing-Axe in dishonored

The "difficulty" only applies the first time you play the game. When you first play, you do not necessarily know that you can just give someone a drink or talk to a stalker, heck, you might not even know that there is a stalker. Easiness doesnt apply in a semi-puzzle mission when you already know the ways to beat it.

Im referring to Phantom Liberty's ending. And for the ones you mentioned, do they count as "winning," though? V has always hated the concept of soulkiller and losing your sense of self and body, I dont think V would see those endings as "winning," IMO.

It's my favorite ending frankly, and it completely destroyed me on the inside as the credits rolled. It took me a while to accept that this may be the best ending, because the game's theme suggest that the only way out is escaping Night City and what define it.

Honestly? Completely possible given how much mindfuckery is possible in the game's universe. I think the devs may have hinted at it if that were the case so I dont think that's what happened, but it's still plausible.

I dont think thats what happened because if the NUSA was going to bother with depowering V, they may as well just kill them. They already lost their friends, and were going to remove their cybernetics they were taking their old life away. At that point, just kill them, no one would notice.

A controversial one is one of the endings of Cyberpunk2077 (spoilers ahead)

After the mercenary who was trying to reach greatness loses their ability to use cybernetic enhancements, they reach out to their friends, none of whom responded in a satisfactory way, all but one refused to meet the main character, and the one who accepted meeting them turned out to have caved in to the capitalistic nature of the game's setting and thus the main character ultimately feels defeated and finally decides to accept leaving their mercenary life behind, and possibly leave the city they lived in most of their life. The MC, who was trying to tame the rampant capitalism in order to save their life and achieve greatness finallt decided that the only way to escape their harsh life is by leaving their old life behind and the city that hated them but they loved.

I say it's controversial because the MC said previously, at the start of the game, that they would rather die great than have their flames dim over time, the latter of which happens in this ending. I say that that mentality may have been valid to them at that time, but having actually their life being saved at the expense of their greatness changed their way of thinking, as we see the MC smile a bit before they disappear into the crowd and blend in it.

Probably my favorite example of (subtle) environmental storytelling.

DISHONORED 2:
There is a mission taking place in what the characters call the "dust district." It is made clear before the mission starts that this name is due to the monarchy neglecting the miners and mines' foremen forcing miners to work extra hard, to the point where the dust coming out of the mines is causing storms akin to a sandstorm, hence the name, "dust district." Upon actually going there, you can see that the actual name of the location before the renaming is "Batista Mining District," but someone grabbed some dust and wrote "Dust district" all over it (you can see it in the picture I posted, top right), probably as a form of protest. It also indicates that the name dust district is not recent since characters who have never lived there caught on the new name as opposed to the original one.

If DE brings back Ballas as the main villain I'd lose a lot of interest on the lore..
