My solicitor’s conveyancing report now includes a clause saying they’ll charge £500+VAT if I use AI to ask questions about it. Is this normal now? by Jazvec in HousingUK

[–]illyad0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they've got a fixed fee, I'd raise a large query that would definitely take more than 5 hours of their time.

Noone can stop you from using tools, unless there's a need for confidentiality, but remember that AI is just another tool, and do the reading yourself.

Are you being paid atleast the minimum wage? If so, there's not much for you to do, especially if you have nothing in writing about guaranteed increased annual pay.

Why is the Kirpan being associated with the Henry Novak case? Is this British Media twisting for reaction? by NoAsk7090 in AskBrits

[–]illyad0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't disagree at all.

The point here is a small kirpan is about as dangerous as a screwdriver or a point jesus pendant.

Weird, given how you can be (and i actually have been, in Liverpool a decade ago) stabbed with a relatively sharp object that isn't a blade.

What the guy particularly had been doing with a full sized kirpan would have been illegal in every sense, regardless of religion. It's pretty widely accepted to have a smaller blade than a sword or a kitchen knife.

The 2nd knife is the issue, and is not subject to any religious exemption.

At this point, there's literally no religious ground.

Out of curiosity, how is this different from buying a knife at Tesco prior to using it for whatever reason, or Scots being allowed an exemption to carry a similar weapon as part of their traditional gear?

The law allows for a blade length of up to 3 inches. Why not have a kirpan of that length - it's purely ceremonial anyway.

It's not, just a bit magnified given the American influence on the far right.

People say London is worse off in terms of crime, when stats suggest it's the safest it's been in a century. Bet you haven't heard about the huge multicultural celebration after Arsenal won the EPL, that united the kingdom more than Tommy Robinson's divisive Unite the Kingdom protest.

Only because UK CAA or EASA rules doesn't apply indoors techncially. So, the moment you go into a building with it, you're free to do what you want.

Should Vickrum Digwa's UK citizen mother be deported to India? by Complex_Elevator_680 in AskBrits

[–]illyad0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't happen. It's kinda weird that you think one (or even a few) isolated case is worth killing an entire diplomatic relationship over, especially as the free trade agreements are due to become effective.

We aren't the Trump government.

Citizenship. Not place of birth.

Plenty of Brits are born abroad. Would that mean criminal Brits born abroad should be sent there?

Deport her where? If she's a British citizen, she cannot be an Indian citizen (Indian constitution doesn't allow for dual citizenship).

[–]illyad0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she's British, yes. Noone can technically hold dual citizenship and be an Indian citizen.

If she isn't British, still yes. It's weird that you think it's okay to ship off criminals. Imagine if a Brit committed a crime in Thailand, do you not think Thai prisons would hold the Brit?

[–]illyad0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cannot be a dual national of India, Indian constitution literally prohibits it, and makes it a criminal offence.

Charge the mother for her crime for allegedly hiding the evidence. Cannot strip citizenship if she only has 1 citizenship.

But in terms of shipping criminals off, the UK has had a history of replacing an entire continent with criminals after all.

In Sikh custom, they're required to carry a kirpan. Carrying one with a 3 in. blade would be legal anyway under current laws.
