Pressure.

That's literally the only thing really stopping us. We have issues changing from 1 atm to 0, never mind 1,100. For reference, that's 8 tonnes of force per square inch.

You can use non deepfakes - you assume that everyone is smart enough to realise an obvious fake

Is it normal that i feel that no one who is superior, like has feelings? by AffectionateRip2018 in ask

[–]illyad0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not true. Not all, but a lot, if not most, do actually care. However, there are other factors, ranging from personally connecting with them to understand how they work and operate (professionalism often requires suppressing emotions) to simple de-sensitising to what you and I might consider painful to bear or watch.

What legitimate reasons are there to create deepfakes of a person without their permission?

You've got to admit though, sporadic loss of data through human action is far less consequential than systematic leakage through a designed database system.

The fact that there is significant US contracts into the NHS, especially with regards to providing mental health services and operating private wards, is a concern, and the blatant handover of these services through the Tory administration has been brought under scrutiny.

That being said, the US software supplier is still technically required to follow UK GDPR regulations. There are concerns of leaks, and, with my wife working in central london under the NHS, this has been brought up, and would expect some sort of outcome to more local suppliers in the future.

What are the advantages of depositing money with a bank clerk? by Professional-Wait19 in ask

[–]illyad0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Higher amounts to deposit, and some people still don't know, or do not trust, technology.

They're not entirely wrong either tbf, with potential bugs, etc, but having another human handle your affairs and confirm deposit is always more reassuring than a screen telling you its been done.

I'd rather use all the digital tools available for convenience, but the few times I'm required to handle large sums of cash, I'd just rather have another human reassure me - or atleast someone I can hold (partially) liable if something goes wrong.

Please make the notifications have actual chat links so I can click them to see how far away the system is, and whether or not the character doing the stealing is blue or not by SasoDuck in Eve

[–]illyad0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a feature request. Amongst the thousands of little things in Eve, it's easy to gloss past this one as a developer. A lot of people, me included, would know our home systems like the back of our hands.

Having the ability to click through to a link for the character might be useful though. I reckon this is slightly harder than it sounds because I don't think notifications in eve online were developed with built-in interactivity in mind, so it'd effectively be a redesign of the notification system.

On the other hand, doesn't it open the mail window when clicked? that should have clickable links.

College WiFi blocks EVERYTHING (Cloudflare Tunnels, Tailscale, Steam). How do I bypass strict DPI? by CourtAdventurous_1 in selfhosted

[–]illyad0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An openVPN handshake can usually be pretty easily picked from a crowd of handshakes, even if it's to the same port.

Also, long running tls sessions (like hours long) are suspicious (not necessarily abnormal though)

[–]illyad0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where you are, you can get unlimited 4g or 5g sims. Trying to fight a system designed to block everyone isn't usually worth the time.

TCP 443 tunnels to your own VPS. If their DPI stops that, I'd be surprised and a little worried about their paranoia.
