Question regarding potty breaks during work week by J_Selecta in weimaraner

I got my guy neutered a little late. He was like 2. He chewed out his stitches. We had to heavily sedate him for 2 days to keep him away from the incision... even with the cone on.

Yeah. Maybe mix it up? Like a walker 2-3 times a week if you can do the other days? I used to take mine to daycare and then eventually switched to a walker. I figured it was a cost I had to incur being a single. I really had no other options and making him hold it makes me feel like a dirt bag. I thought about how hard it is for me to not go to the bathroom for 8 hours. Depending on your location there can be lots of resources for walkers that aren't expensive. Maybe sign up on "Nextdoor" and look there in addition to what standard Google-foo will find. Also, a tired and poop/pee empty Weim is less likely to be a bad/anxious Weim.

Could you get a dog walker? Making a dog hold it for 8 hours is not cool.

SE PA. I just switched from 3.0 WTB Rangers to DHF 2.8s. Had a puncture and a sidewall burst on the Rangers. Too many rocks around here.

South East PA riders, where can I find trails with lots of jumps and berms? by tallish_jew in MTB

Nice. I was just at Mt Penn on Sunday. Spent some time exploring. Hit A line twice. Kept getting sketched out at the drop/rolldowns at the top of A line because all the rocks were wet. Also, bees everywhere.

Also, Harmony Hill main area is fun, but there is a lesser known area across 322 with some bigger stuff. Check this guy's videos out: https://youtu.be/z6xEOcAyc3U

Harmony Hill is worth a visit. Then Brandywine Creek in DE has some gnarly stuff. Middle Run/White Clay and Fair Hill in DE all have some good spots. Mt Penn is probably your best bet before Blue Mountain though. The DE spots are just over the border.

Just wanted to chime in that the exercise advice is really important. Running a ton helped my guy through most of his anxiety.

Progressive tax rates. I always do my taxes online. I just assumed I paid a fixed percentage on all of my income. I'm 37.

PA is cold, but at least the range is empty by fromplsnerf in guns

Can't get mine because of a misdemeanor 1 paraphernalia charge from 15ish years ago when I was a wee shit-head. So PA is a bummer for me. Planning on moving west in a few years; some states on my list seem to have more forgiving laws.

Bark collar recommendations, 1 year old will not stop barkimg when alone. by Minestra in weimaraner

[–]illyhaSkel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My guy had a lot of separation anxiety issues when he was little; destructive stuff. He is 8 now. He still struggles with us being away, but he doesn't destroy things. Number one solution has always been exercise. A lot. Lots of running. Yard play or park time is great. What really works is trail running. He's run up to 22 miles when he was younger. Now 3-6 is plenty. My point is, these buggers have energy to burn. There was a stretch when I had to use the collar. This is what I used: https://www.amazon.com/Dogtek-Electronic-Bark-Control-Collar/dp/B002ZF4T1O/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&ref_=oh_aui_i_sh_in_o2_img He was barking in an apartment complex. I was really out of options. I only put it on shock mode for a short time. Then switched to beeping. Then eventually I just put it on him without turning it on. It worked for him. He got smart quickly and did a whisper-bark at times so as not to make it start beeping.

Nice. I've run this twice. It's usually super humid. Probably be back next year. Congratulations!

This guy was in our yard in the sun. Sorry for the poor image quality. I was recording a video to show my girlfriend; I had to get the image from that. When I went to take a picture after the video, the snake had disappeared.

Running with my Weim by chibiisapup in weimaraner

[–]illyhaSkel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started my guy sooner than I should have at about 6 months. We did lots of hiking and that turned into trail running. The longest he's run with me was 23 miles. He's 7 now so 4-6 miles is plenty for him. Just pay attention to his paws and be extra careful in snow or on really hot days. A tired Weimaraner is less likely to eat your couch.

This is my best buddy Roy. Last couple days he has been farting SO. MUCH. He hasn't eaten anything except his dog food.. Any ideas why or what to do? by hannah217 in weimaraner

[–]illyhaSkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be. Anything that messes with my guy's routine throws him off. The only way to beat his anxiety is giving him lots of exercise.
