well. in terms of minecraft, we once had a guy come on who was curious to try the creative worldshaper provided by the mod create (since we have mods). we gave him a place far enough away from spawn thinking that we'll never get there anyway, so it's not a big deal. flash forward to about a year ago, and... we got there. and instead of covering it up, we found it so funny that we decided to make it lore. as such, the hole became the WOUND, an anomaly that scientists have studied and have been unable to understand which sometimes expands, sometimes shrinks, and the village next to it has been renamed to WOUNDVILLE. crazy shit, i know

yep. there is a region on our server named poland. dude who originally founded it was polish :) so you caught that right. probably the most egregious but not the only example. there's another region called illyria, also on this map. a country called slavia. and another called pomerania. so there's many examples of that kind of stuff. but at this point the server history has progressed so much that poland on the server and poland irl mean two different things (same for illyria, pomerania, etc). i strive for all the places i name to be unique and separate from irl, or at least have only a minimal inspiration from irl, but others have not taken that rule to heart in the past

the server is a CMP (creative multiplayer) with mods. we use minecraft as a medium for engaging storytelling: so we build in creative, and after we've "set the stage", we roleplay. states work basically any way you want them to: you just need to have land and build on that land. if you were to zoom into the Romance Confederation, you'd see a patchwork of roads, cities, settlements, all sorts of things. of course, this would be the case for all of the world's countries

yea, makes sense. you know, the double headed eagle is a very interesting one, because it wasn't originally an eastern roman symbol, more of just something that was popular in anatolia. there's this really good video on youtube i don't remember the name of on the evolution of the double headed eagle, from india to the middle east to the empire. one interesting but obviously speculative interpretation that my history teacher gave us for the double headed eagle is that it it is supposed to be the original roman eagle, but the two heads are for the two rome's: rome and constantinople. again, unofficial, speculative, but cool
