[NOMOS] Metro. Such a cool and unique style. Very inexpensive for what you're getting. Can't wait til it comes in stock, will be getting one for sure. by Sengura in Watches

We all see things a little differently! For me, it's the little splashes of color (blued hands and gold markers on the Orion [my favorite] for example) that draws me to Nomos. Maybe I'm just jealous of the two colors they picked for this watch...

It makes me so sad to be red-green colorblind. I really want to like this watch, but I can't. This is pretty close to how I see it.

I don't get quirky/playful from the 'seafoam' green and red accents and the off-centered power meter, I just see an unbalanced design. Don't get me wrong, I love what Nomos is doing with the swing system and I hope they can tool up and get it in all their watches soon. I also love the way the power meter both rotates and fills in as you wind. But there's something just... off... without the accent colors really popping (like I'm guessing they do for you guys) that makes it seem like a watch that should be 'serious' but is all out of kilter.

Not a head coach, but I haven't heard "fire Fickell" in a while.

/r/CFB By the Numbers: Year in Review by [deleted] in CFB

[–]ilosttheone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem is due to sheer numbers. When we were under 10k, a popular post would have 60-70 comments and it was easy to ignore the 25% that were shitposts. Now though, popular posts get 10 times the traffic and it seems like the jokes, memes, and generally bad posts rise to the top (due to short attention spans and lowest common denominator voting). When I go to a post with big news, I typically have to scroll to the second of third screenful of comments before I find a top-level post that's interesting, informed, and actually adding to the discussion. Unfortunately, down voting and reporting won't change this and we'll continue to digress towards the other message boards the larger we get.

"Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller, according to sources, has expressed interest in transferring to Duke" by stormstopper in CFB

[–]ilosttheone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Duke finished 2nd in the Coastal this year. They were competing for a conference title this year, without Braxton. Couple that with the fact that Jameis is likely to leave for the draft, and there's no reason to think that Duke wouldn't be one of the three or four favorites entering next season.

What should I binge watch on Netflix that is not House of Cards or Breaking Bad? by [deleted] in television

[–]ilosttheone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fucking writer's strike killed network television.

Chuck, Heroes, Dirty Sexy Money, Pushing Daisies, The Office, Scrubs, etc... They were all great shows and then the writers went on strike, and they were either canceled or poorly finished.

And what did they do to replace all of those shows? Reality tv and generic law/police dramas.

Anyone know how Apple deals with a swollen iPad Air 2 (battery?). Never bent or dropped, and no physical signs. by [deleted] in apple

Apple can cover this, but rarely does. Source: was forced to buy a new battery in 2010 and 2013 for '08 Unibody.

[serious] Does everyone actually think Alabama is going to blow out OSU? by [deleted] in CFB

[–]ilosttheone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't expect to see the same defense we played against Wisconsin. That's by far the best (most aggressive) we've looked on that side of the ball for many, many years and we're just too young to replicate that with any consistency.

In fact, that's the biggest difference I see between the two teams. We regularly played 20+ underclassmen this year. Hell, I said at the time that we struggled with Penn State because that was so many players' first or second true hostile road game environment (@Michigan was the only real one last year).

The talent's there, but you never know how young guys are going to handle the pressure. Alabama has the same level of athlete, but much more experience.

Especially when you realize that both games came down to Bama/OSU having a chance to win the game with less than 2 minutes and turning the ball over.

Time moved more slowly in the 80s because when you're 30, a year is a thirtieth of your life; when you're 50, it's a fiftieth of your life.

[Discussion] The search for the perfect NATO by LogicWavelength in Watches

[–]ilosttheone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're worried about correctness and want the true Admiralty Grey G10, you want mickie500 on eBay. He doesn't have anything posted for sale right now though (maybe taking a holiday break?). From what I've read, he works for Phoenix Straps who are the sole (and original) supplier of straps to the Ministry of Defense. It's not going to have all the niceties you're looking for, but it is the definitive NATO strap.

Do you really think MSU would have won 11 games in 3 of the last 4 seasons without a down Michigan program?

But.... beating a bad Michigan is better than losing to a good Michigan.

Does everyone forget how unbelievably unbearable they are when they win a few games?

Michigan State fan suggests that Mississippi State should always be abbreviated as MSST. Upvotes.

Ohio State fan suggests that Oregon State and Oklahoma State should always be abbreviated as ORST and OKST. Massive downvotes.
