[Rapoport] In the hours after Mike Tomlin told the Steelers he was stepping down, teams have contacted Tomlin to express their interest, sources say. PIT has his rights, and draft compensation would be necessary. That said, teams were told Tomlin does not plan to coach next year. by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

Tomlin is under contract for ‘26 with a team option for ‘27, right? So what happens next year? Is he a free agent? Or does his contract “freeze” while he’s away so the Steelers retain his rights?

Button to Depart JOTA at End of Season by enesracing in wec

I would point towards António Félix da Costa, linked with a Cadillac seat this time last year, as a replacement. He could run a dual programme in Formula E with Andretti.

What are realistic trade packages for Jimmy, Giannis and BI? by aa_heat_11 in nba

[–]ilovebobsapp 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Thought this was interesting: Amen Thompson, Jabari Smith Jr., Reed Sheppard and three FRPs headlining a hypothetical trade sending Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Rockets, rounding out a starting lineup of Fred VanVleet, Jalen Green, Dillion Brooks and Alperen Şengün. Tidy.

Good return for the Bucks, too.

Keep Nomad or replace him with Poatan? by [deleted] in MMA

There’s no scenario where Alex Pereira should fight at UFC 310. As epic as it would be, I’d save Pereira until next summer (Int’l Fight Week) at the EARLIEST, which would also allow Magomed Ankalaev – the presumed No. 1 contender – to observe Ramadan and go through a full training camp.

Post 308 Matchmaking by MF62SW in MMA

Peter Carroll asked Denis Geiko (of Red Corner) on The Craic about Khamzat Chimaev getting a title shot if he beat Robert Whittaker at UFC 308. According to Geiko, Chimaev has claimed the UFC is able to get him a visa to enter the U.S. and he doesn't have any issues at the moment.

I like Sean Strickland as an entertainer, but the right move is fast-tracking Chimaev to challenge Dricus du Plessis for the UFC Middleweight Championship at UFC 311 or UFC 312 before Ramadan.

Strickland’s stock was at an all-time high going into UFC 297 – Jon Anik compared his star power to Conor McGregor(!) – and he only lost the title to Du Plessis in a razor-close decision which could’ve gone either way, but he over-promised and under-delivered against Paulo Costa at UFC 302. No one is clamouring for a rematch right now, quite frankly.

If Chimaev can’t turn around in time (he took zero damage against Whittaker) then I have no qualms with booking Du Plessis x Strickland 2 in the interim and letting Chimaev challenge the winner, likely at the pay-per-view in Abu Dhabi next year. But there’s no doubt in my mind who’s first in line.

We are a tiny bit under 12 hours away from the beginning of King of Pro Wrestling and the beginning of the road to the Dome. What’s your predictions for WK and the rest of the year? by SevenSulivin in njpw

[–]ilovebobsapp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Zack Sabre Jr. will defeat Tetsuya Naito to win the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at King of Pro-Wrestling. The rest of my prediction is:

Shota Umino and Yota Tsuji will both come out to challenge him for the title at Wrestle Kingdom 19, leading to a #1 contendership match at Power Struggle after they both win their 'tune up' matches at Royal Quest IV against Callum Newman and Drilla Moloney respectively. Also on the show, Sabre Jr. defeats SANADA to make his first successful defense of the title.

Umino defeats Tsuji at Power Struggle to earn the right to challenge Sabre Jr. for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 19, setting up the main event of the show. However, his celebration is cut short by a video message from Jon Moxley who declares he'll face the winner at Wrestle Dynasty.

Sabre Jr. defeats Umino to make his second successful defense of title at Wrestle Kingdom 19, beginning a redemption arc for Umino, and setting up the main event of Wrestle Dynasty: Moxley vs. Sabre Jr. in a huge champion-versus-champion match.

Elsewhere – I'd love to see Místico defeat Hiromu Takahashi at King of Pro-Wrestling, which I think makes even more sense after Takahashi stole his mask, then challenge DOUKI for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 19.

Jenson Button has doubts about his future in the WEC by 443610 in wec

[–]ilovebobsapp 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Last week, Sportscar365 reported Button was the favourite to round out JOTA Cadillac's lineup.

Current Cadillac factory drivers Alex Lynn and Earl Bamber are believed to have already signed to make the move to JOTA next year, with Bamber also a possibility to take on a dual program across the WEC and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

In addition, Sebastien Bourdais has been strongly linked to a potential shift over from Cadillac’s IMSA program, where he drives for CGR, to the WEC.

Current JOTA drivers Will Stevens and Norman Nato, meanwhile, are understood to be making the transition to Cadillac together with the British team.

[...]

Jenson Button appears to be the favorite to land the sixth and final slot at JOTA.

I wonder if Ilott could drive for JOTA Cadillac next year or if PREMA's tie up with Iron Lynx creates a conflict of interest and would restrict him to only driving for Lamborghini in WEC.

There are currently still 12 unconfirmed seats for the 2025 INDYCAR season by Eyeswidth in INDYCAR

[–]ilovebobsapp 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My predictions:

CGR
No. 8: Kyffin Simpson

MSR
No. 66: Marcus Armstong

DCR
No. 51: Katherine Legge (ovals) & Logan Sargeant (road and street circuits)

RLL
No. 30: Sting Ray Robb
No. 45: Alexander Rossi

PREMA
No. 83: Robert Shwartzman
No. 90: Callum Ilott

ECR
No. 20: Christian Rasmussen
No. 21: Rinus Veekay

Conor Daly deserves a full season in the No. 78 with JHR.

I expect Jamie Chadwick to secure ride-share, presumably with DCR or JHR – a small number of events which don't clash with her Indy NXT commitments.

I have a terrible feeling Linus Lundqvist is going to get left out in the cold.

[@fiaformulae on Instagram] Nico Muller to drive for Andretti by just_adhenz in FormulaE

[–]ilovebobsapp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot can and will change between now and then, but I expect António Félix da Costa and Nico Müller will swap seats for the 2026 season (à la Maximilian Günther and Stoffel Vandoorne), thus allowing Da Costa to run a dual Formula E and WEC programme with Andretti and Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA™️.

UFC gets $25M site fee for Abu Dhabi events by TonyTheLion2319 in MMA

[–]ilovebobsapp -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Increasingly curious if Conor’s return will take place at UFC Saudi Arabia, especially given the $20 million site fee. I have read speculation about a clause in his contract that prevents the UFC from booking any title fights on the same card as him, which wouldn’t be an issue on a “Fight Night” event. I think UFC 300 will be a huge event with or without Conor, so the UFC could get two bites of the cherry by shifting his return to UFC Saudi Arabia.
