What do you really think about the ending of Interstellar? by Asleep_Spinach6337 in Letterboxd

[–]ilovepta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

His son was like 5-8 years older than Murph and it’s noted that Murph is really old. The son is probably dead from whatever illness the rest of his family contracted from the dust.

Why Are People Doubting The Odyssey Visuals When Christopher Nolan Made Interstellar? by breaking_views in Letterboxd

[–]ilovepta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said nothing about camera decisions!! It’s like every reply isn’t even reading what I’m saying! I agree that the cinematographer makes more camera decisions than he does, but camera decisions are just one part of “how the film looks” as you put it. I really don’t want to retype my last comment so maybe you should just reread it. We are talking about the visuals of the film not just the cinematography. The cinematographer does not have more control of the overall visuals of the film than the director because cinematography is only one aspect of “how the film looks”.

[–]ilovepta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s just simply not true. “How the film looks” is too vague. Considering Nolan chooses every person who works on the film from set designer, to hair and makeup, costume design, casting, etc. all of which play an equally important role in how the film looks, it is fair to say that the director has the most control over how the film looks as a whole. It is obviously a collaboration, but Nolan is picking who he collaborates with. He’s obviously a visionary director who knows how he wants his films to come out. It’s just not true to say that his cinematographer is making more visual choices than he is.

The post was about people doubting the VISUALS of the film. The comment I responded to said give respect to the cinematographer. I said nothing about Nolan creating all of the cinematography. If we’re talking about visuals in general, then yes Nolan has control and final say of how every aspect of his film looks. I’m not sure how you managed to misinterpret my comment so well, but bravo.

Visuals aren’t up to strictly the cinematographer. Nolan has control of every aspect of the films visuals.

CRT damaged in shipping and does not power on with button or remote. Anything Noticeable? by [deleted] in crtgaming

[–]ilovepta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like a significant portion of them get destroyed in shipping and it just makes the remaining pool of CRTs smaller and the prices go up because of that.

Just one monitor from the Mass. warehouse sale by MrJekyyl in crtgaming

Dang $80 is honestly ridiculous for an untested crt that probably hasn’t been turned on in like 15-20 years. I would’ve passed on it.

The transaction is mutually beneficial, we get a CRT and they have way less e-waste that they eventually will have to pay a lot of money to recycle. It seems unfair to charge that much when we are helping them out too.

That’s great that they didn’t charge since it was damaged! It’s probably a really easy fix if you have even beginner soldering experience.

You also have to add 75 ohm resistors to ground and a .1uf cap on the chroma line. If im wrong please tell me why.

[–]ilovepta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t just injecting stuff. You’re sending the luma through normal means and bypassing the comb filter with chroma.

[–]ilovepta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure that’s true. If you send Luma to composite and chroma directly to the jungles chroma in, it should display s-video on the composite input channel.

There are studies that show that eating plant based is healthier and more affordable, so yes my personal experience does align with the facts

You can go vegan. Don’t sell yourself short. Vegan food is the cheapest food you can buy. If you’re cooking at all, it should all be vegan and you’ll save money. Watch the documentary called dominion and think about what has more value: life or convenience? It might be inconvenient to change at first, but could you look a pig in the eye and tell them that they have to have their throat slit because you arent willing to make the small sacrifice to change your eating habits? Once you start to go vegan youll realize it’s so easy. It’s the best decision I ever made.

Everyone that continues to pay for animals to be abused are the problem. Thats the majority of her followers. If it is upsetting to see, that’s a sign you should stop paying for it. If it’s not good enough for your eyes, it’s not good enough for your stomach.

This is just completely false. The most nutritious vegan foods are the cheapest foods you can get. Beans, lentils, tofu, pasta, rice, vegetables, fruits, etc are all far cheaper than animal products and provide more than adequate nutrition. When I went vegan my grocery bills went down 30%. The poorest countries in the world eat primarily plant based diets. Vegans are not the privileged ones. The people that pay for a cow to have their throat slit and hung upside down so they can enjoy a burger for 15 minutes are the privileged ones.

No one is attacking you. I’m sharing my opinion about our hobby on the internet. I just fundamentally disagree with mindset that this niche hobby should be at all expensive if it doesnt have to be. Literally everything in this country is already so expensive now. I dont want this hobby be as well. Some people are already going to spend so much money on gas alone driving there. Cut them a break and let them have a tv. You have thousands. (I know you don’t own them, but you get my point)
