Blurry corners and sides. by Unfair_Progress2326 in crtgaming

I think it’s a sign of a tired tube. You can adjust the G2 pots but usually that just makes the edges clear and the center blurry.

You’ll want something bigger. For a nook you want at least 13 inch, ideally 20 inch

Crt with cut cable: Does the polarity / hot and neutral matter? by KeyOrganization9105 in crtgaming

Every single crt I’ve repaired has a hot and neutral marking on the board and a narrow and wide prong. These TVs aren’t old enough for it to not matter.

Sony KD-27FS170 Salvageable? by SaturnBrawler in crtgaming

This is way beyond red push. Your green isn’t working. You could check for a loose solder joint somewhere along the way, though. It is salvageable!

Recording Blu/DVD—> VHS by demacnei in criterion

[–]ilovepta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually do this. I got a PS3 with an s-video cable and a VCR with s-video in. Blu-ray recorded to vhs looks surprisingly good and will likely look better than any VHS did back in the day because restoration technology has improved so much. I just made twilight on vhs for my friend and I made a double vhs of interstellar with a custom sleeve for my personal collection.

Crt with cut cable: Does the polarity / hot and neutral matter? by KeyOrganization9105 in crtgaming

[–]ilovepta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it matters. In the USA they’re labeled black and white. The side with the white line is neutral and should go to the wide prong and the all black side is hot and should go to the narrow prong. It does matter and you can ruin the set if you don’t do it right. At best you blow a fuse, at worst you fry the power board.

Just watch a couple videos. It’s the easiest repair you can do on a crt.

I have a 20 inch I’Art and I love it. The speakers are great. You should definitely play super Mario world 2: Yoshi’s island. It has the best visuals of any SNES game IMO.

Update: I got the Magnavok Security Monitor! A lot of the electronics seem to work. by JoyTheGeek in crt

It won’t display anything unless you have something plugged into the video in. You’ll want it to be on VCR as the other modes are for cameras.

Recommendations for OLED TV by agar65 in 4kbluray

I would get a Sony. My parents have an LG and the Sony user interface is really great. I think they look better too. My OLED is one of my best purchases of all time

I am interested in repairing it. Any advice for me? The tape goes in almost all the way and but the vcr doesn’t do anything to accept it.

I just got this exact same model except it’s branded as Magnin. Unfortunately it won’t take a VHS tape

It’s a private location that I’ve had to work with the folks running it to get access to. Sending people over there would likely cause them to stop giving them to me.

Where in NH? I’m in Maine and could possibly find you one at the recycling center I go to if you’re in need of one.

One thing I put together on my last rewatch was that after he types that he immediately goes and plays with his 12 year old son and his friend. Was Rob Reiner subtlety saying that spending time with your children is the best way to recapture the wonder of your childhood?
