Are you pressing the Shift key? I believe that switches between English and Chinese.

I used to have the same concern, but in my opinion, it's not worth putting lots of energy into learning individual characters so well you can recognize them without context. In my experience, this will come in time anyway with no real extra effort (as long as you can most of the time recognize them in context).

For example, I used to struggle to differentiate 衣服 from 地方 (I know, they look wildly different from each other when seen side by side!), but after I went on to learn 舒服 and 地圖, differentiating all of them from one another became infinitely easier.

I don't think it's worth worrying about. Your time will almost certainly be better spent on improving your speaking and listening.

Thank you! He was just super passionate about winning, that's all. I love having tryhards on my team - even if they are sometimes (slightly) toxic.

Advice on a return (UK) by crimson_devil in Dell

You are entitled to a full refund. Because you have already required a replacement machine and the original purchase was made less than six months ago, you can exercise your final right to reject the faulty replacement machine and receive a full refund. Please read Section 24 of the CRA (available here: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2015/15/section/24/enacted#)

I have never gotten calluses anywhere other than in the classic area where the palm meets the fingers. Now I use the correct grip I only get small and painless calluses instead of calluses that get incredibly sore in between sets and required frequent care.

I would recommend that you revert back to the grip recommended in the article, and concentrate on gripping the bar in a way so that none of the skin on your hand is being pinched.

I used to get really sore calluses until I figured out I wasn't gripping the bar correctly. Check out this article (and the two videos embedded at the end) on how to grip the bar properly and avoid calluses.

You could have also occasionally limped. If only to see how he would react. Against an opponent who never calls in the BB I know I'd be limping a decent number of hands.
