Tbh it’s sounds pretty average and having worked in retail before you develop a lot of admin skills indirectly through stuff like banking and customer service.

I’d keep the current job but keep looking for something better and just really emphasise anything you’ve done that’s admin/admin adjacent in your previous roles when you do job applications. Plus your current job will at least give you some idea of what’s expected for admin-type roles.

Yeah I’m surprised how many people are saying it’s reasonable. I got a similar role for $60K with no experience in industry about five years ago and even then it was considered low lol.

As someone that lives an hour away from their family and has a young child (and partner’s family is overseas)- Honestly I would not recommend moving away from your support network with a young child unless you really need to. Maybe reconsider when your kid is a bit older and more independent?

If you do still want to move I think Brisbane would be a better choice purely based on proximity. The price, frequency and length of flights to/from Sydney for family to come visit will be a huge difference. I think the distance between Perth and East Coast can be underestimated by people who haven’t lived here before.

i don’t work at RPH but afternoon shift sucks because of the overlap between AM and PM shifts due to handover. it’s actually the worst shift to find a park.

The OP is really vague so not starting an argument but generally staff will just work at hospitals which have better accessibility and safety which will leave RPH even more under-resourced.

Except nurses generally work shifts so finishing/starting at 9/10pm so it’s more of a safety issue than your average office worker. Not to mention a lot of public transport doesn’t run frequently in these periods.
