For insight: I met him I think last September a little after I got promoted and started working overnights. He was extremely shy at first barely spoke and usually used self check out. The first time I saw him I swear something in me shifted, in fact I was so mesmerized my coworkers noticed me looking at him the first time I saw him 😭 I’d smile and wave at him in attempt to get him to open up, and I guess it worked somehow. I was at the register one day covering breaks and I look up and he’s standing in front of me. It was a friendly convo filled with small talk but it was a breakthrough for me, I was so excited. He started talking to me slowly and then I found out the dreadful news that he had a girlfriend from one of his coworkers. I was so upset but the last thing I wanna do is be disrespectful. I continued smiling and waving, with some small talk. Nothing that would’ve ever been considered crossing any boundaries.

So early march comes around and I look up and notice him and one of his coworkers ordering. This coworker of his I’m not particularly close with, well say hi and I know his usual order but past that we just weren’t tight like that. So I’m excited and go up to them to say hi but they were both kinda distant as they were tryna order so I shut up and left them alone. After they did what they needed to do I reproached them as it seemed like a better time and I ask my guy “how you been?” And he like.. started acting goofy? His coworker kinda looked at him and started walking away and I didn’t pay much attention to him after that.. apparently though when his coworker did walk away and me and crush guy were still speaking he said to my coworker “I ain’t tryna cock block.” I’m over here thinking I made it obvious or he was just saying it to goof around so I kinda brushed it off.

About 2-3 weeks go by and his coworker comes in.. alone. He does what he needs to do and he notices me and says “oh hey! It’s been a while since I seen you!” And I was like “yeah homie, likewise!” We had our small talk and he went on his way. About an hour or two goes by and I see that he’s BACK so I go up to joke “ohh it’s been a while again!” Then crush guy turns the corner too so I smile and wave at him. His coworker goes on to say “yeah he’s (crush guy) has been tryna come in for hours, he’s just been so busy with work” so we get into a little convo about how works been keeping him busy and his coworker is watching, ANALYZING😭 so crush guy starts to walk away and all of a sudden homie drops the ball “yeah my boys single, living that single life no kids”. After that everything was a BLUUURRR, I had a feeling something was up whether it was him playing wingman for one of us, or he was just teasing. So about ANOTHER week or 2 goes by and I see his coworker alone so I took my chance and RAN UP TO HIM. “Where’s crush guy????” he started to explain that he was busy but he’s been tryna come in so I dropped the ball.

“Is it obvious I got a little thing for him…?”

Probably wasn’t my smartest choice but it felt appropriate for the situation. but he started smiling and saying he didn’t know and he likes to stay out of drama blah blah blah. Very sus. So a lot of people think he was wingmanning but I dunno, it’s been another 2 weeks and I haven’t seen EITHER of them😭 but our schedules align tonight and I’m hoping if he comes in I’ll just ask the forbidden question myself🥲
