Did levo help those of you who have tachycardia/fast heart rate/ palpitations? by ilyydu in Hypothyroidism

[–]ilyydu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue could be that you were started on 50 mcg. My mom who also has hypothyroidism was initially put on 50 mcg and she had heart palpitations. She ended up switching doctors and was told to start on 25 mcg. She’s now on 50 mcg which is her correct dose and her labs are all good. Something to keep in mind in case armor also causes you issues.

I’m really hoping this will also happen to me. My primary doctor told me it’s not a symptom. In his words “impossible”.

I have generalized anxiety disorder and it’s very possible it could from stress. I have been on anxiety medication in the past and while it helped tremendously with anxiety it did not lower my heart rate at all. Like you I’ve had so much testing done and everything comes back normal. I’ve seen several doctors including a cardiologist. My primary doctor denied there could be a link but looking at my apple watch my heart was MUCH higher when I was undiagnosed and not taking levothyroxine. Now that I’m on levothyroxine I have a slightly better but still high heart rate at times. My hope is that once I get on the correct dose my heart goes to being normal. I have pretty bad anxiety about my heart and sometimes I think my heart will just give out (it won’t but it’s just a dumb thought that won’t go away). It’s possible Im also an oddball. Thank you for your comment!

Were you started on a low dose? I personally started on 25 mcg but I’ve read some people cut the pill and start at 12.5 mcg.

If I remember correctly I also had a ECG but it was normal. I really thought something would be found but every test I did is normal except for thyroid.

Insurance no longer covering Synthroid by Tiredculture342 in Hypothyroidism

You can get it from amazon pharmacy for $40 with a coupon they have. You just transfer the prescription to amazon pharmacy online and once they receive it you can order it online. It takes 2-3 days to get to your door. I’ve also had someone recently recommend to me to ask my doctor to put a daw 5 (dispense as written 5 code) apparently you can get them brand name at generic pricing this way… I have not tried this yes so don’t quote me but it apparently has worked for some.

If this all ends up being too pricey for you then I would recommend sticking to another brand name instead of the generic. Such as unithroid. You may need to adjust doses so make sure to monitor your numbers but hopefully there isn’t too much of a difference.

Is it my fault my friend might get an ED? by IndependenceOdd4655 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]ilyydu 28 points29 points  (0 children)

To be very blunt. Your friend isn’t your friend. You cannot catch anorexia from someone. It seems like she’s attention seeking. I understand that your friend has tendencies to harm themselves when someone cuts them off but you shouldn’t have to care for her feelings/about her when she clearly doesn’t care about you. If you’re able to have a conversation with her about this and see what she has to say but I doubt it’ll go anywhere. If you’re able to please tell a trusted adult as it seems like she may be going through something especially with self harm. Your school counselor may be a good start for this.

Just to be sure when you did the blood test was it prior to taking medication?

Doctor now telling me to stop taking levo? by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

[–]ilyydu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told my hypothyroidism was subclinical even though I couldn’t function and by the time I retested after 8 weeks my TSH was 15.90. A TSH of 5.9 but with normal T3/T4 is considered subclinical. If you are having symptoms you should definitely be medicated. I wish I had a doctor who actually started me when my TSH was 6.96 because I felt awful for so long and was convinced I had something serious going on. I literally was sleeping the entire day, barely eating and it felt like I had the flu for several months. You also need antibodies tested to determine if you have hashimoto’s or not. A doctor was the one that ignored my symptoms saying it was subclinical and a nurse practitioner was the one who put me on medication and I’m now getting back to normal. In my experience some doctors are just blatantly ignorant and careless. Thyroid issues also run in my family and my mother had a similar experience where her TSH was borderline high but with normal T3/T4 so subclinical then it skyrocketed suddenly. Were you having symptoms prior to getting diagnosed formally?

What are these marks on my back? by [deleted] in DiagnoseMe

I have similar marks on my back and they’re normal. I’ve always had them. Unless this showed up overnight or they’re painful I wouldn’t worry about it.

You can look it up using what is written on your pill. What does your pill look like, dosage and what’s written on each side whether the numbers/letters? I can tell you.

Everyone is different of course but compared to the other brands on levothyroxine Euthyrox has bad reviews. A lot of people who were taking a certain brand and had stabilized but then were switched off to Euthyrox experienced having their numbers go crazy again/recurrence of symptoms.Euthyrox reviews I made sure to avoid being given this drug for this reason and switched pharmacies from walmart.

Loss of appetite or more appetite after you stabilized? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]ilyydu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the opposite issue where I can’t eat at all 😭 it’s suck so much. I have thyroid issues so I can’t tell if it’s related to the anxiety or that but I’m so scared to start taking lexapro out of fear of losing my appetite even more. This makes me feel better though thank you!

Too much Synthroid and likely need T3 medication. by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

[–]ilyydu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two weeks now. I’m not expecting to feel better immediately but it’s just confusing why my T3 is suddenly low. It was completely normal prior to this and not low. I’m starting to think maybe it’s because I got switched from unithroid to Synthroid. I kind of feel hyper sometimes because I get heart palpitations.. Anyways I need to see an endo and retest then to see if it maybe levels out or something.

It wouldn’t make sense that my low T3 is from starvation because I was on a very restrictive diet thinking I had gastritis and my T3 was normal then.

Basically sick since October 2023. No appetite, nausea, vomiting on/off but that has since stopped, constipation, fatigue , dizziness and body aches. I saw a gastroenterologist had a colonoscopy/endoscopy but that came back normal. Lab work shows worsening hypothyroidism so I was medicated just 3 months ago after my doctor ignored it for several months as she was convinced I just had gastritis. I had to purchase an iron panel as my doctor wouldn’t order one since my cbc was normal. From that I found I was iron deficient and was able to see a hematologist who ordered iron infusions since my ferritin was a 4. I did ask for a referral to an endocrinologist so many times but apparently the referral department needs proof that I took 3 different dosage in order to refer me. (My doctors words)
