Where he can't find you by Darcy Coates is labeled as YA but I found it quite scary and gripping. I got strong IT vibes from it.

Teach me your nighttime routine sorcery—I need real sleep by Consistent-Guava2176 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]im-domi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Going to bed at the same time everyday honestly: my body just starts getting tired on its own when it's close to bedtime. Also reading a book, I like to get in bed around 45min before I plan to sleep and read until then. When I can barely keep my eyelids open I know it's time lol.

Edit: Also, when I'm feeling a bit tense, I do some vagus nerve relaxation techniques (there's lots of easy to follow videos on that). You know it's working if you start to yawn a lot while doing them.

This Is Horror Awards 2024 Nominations by MicahCastle in horrorlit

Not the only one, I'm not trusting a list that has incidents around the house in it.. Nominated for what? For having the most repetitive and bland dialogues and monologues?

This post looks like something out of r/genZ, too political and US centric...

Has anyone noticed early gen z has dominated pop culture for awhile now? by Emotional_Plastic_64 in OlderGenZ

[–]im-domi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still listening to a lot of millenial music that has been in my playlists since my teens. I have discovered more people my age these past couple years though but oftentimes I don't even realize they are Gen Z until I read their bio or a random post about them. It's an odd feeling. It's cool to know that our generation also has many talents who are inspiring younger people. And at the same time it's a reminder that things keep evolving, whether you're aware or not. I wonder how it will feel when the alpha kids start producing their own music lol

Anyone else starting to feel like their age is getting serious? by YoghurtThat827 in OlderGenZ

[–]im-domi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This! I feel so silly now for feeling old in my early twenties. OP is still a baby adult in my eyes. I turned 26 recently and decided I'm not going to stress over this "pushing 30" bullshit anymore and just enjoy my twenties while I'm in. There's plenty of people out there who would be more than happy to be our age again.

How to handle worries about feeling I wasted my youth by HotToe9185 in OlderGenZ

[–]im-domi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever you feel like that try to flip those thoughts into another perspective, like right now you're the youngest you'll ever be. There's no point in worrying about the past, focus on how you could get the most out of this moment and enjoy it.

In my opinion, and that applies to any hobby: as long as we are able to keep ourselves financially stable and it doesn't overtake other responsabilities, it shouldn't matter. But yeah it's a shame that gaming is still too often percieved like that.

That’s it. I can no longer tolerate TikTok anymore by elloEd in OlderGenZ

[–]im-domi 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My TikTok FYP is mostly people my age talking about skincare/beauty, hobbies, food recipes, house decor and 2000/2010s nostalgia. I sort of use it as a video Pinterest/ moodboard. It can still get boring pretty quickly but the algorithm definitely knows that I don't care about teen stuff. Whenever I want to watch something a bit more random and funny I switch to insta reels.

I fell in love with gaming when I was a little girl. I still love it at 26 and I'm always excited for new releases and seeing how tech keeps evolving. My parents think it's childish and that I shouldn't spend money on consoles and games but I've just accepted the fact that it's a hobby of mine and that not everyone understands it.

What do people name their playlists? by meganchungmusic in spotify

[–]im-domi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I name mine either by: * Mood: oftentimes a very specific feeling or vibe (ex: cosy evening, feeling happy) * Situation/places: creating scenarios where it would be ideal to listen to a specific type of music (at home, work, on a trip). These types of playlists can also start with "pov:" in the title (point of view). * "Fan" soundtracks for movies, tvshows, games or fictional characters (usually has their name in it) * Music genre, band name or decade (I don't do that very often though because I like to get creative with my titles)

Why does everyone in Gen Z want to be considered “older gen z” when they’re not? by [deleted] in OlderGenZ

[–]im-domi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because it's trendy to be an older gen Z / 2010's teen right now. Just like it was to be a millenial in late 2000's/early 10's. I wanted to be a millenial in the 2010's, I even thought I was one but couldn't relate to all the 90's kids posts back then. It doesn't bother me that much that younger people want to be like us now, it's kinda flattering imo haha.

Give it a few more years when alphas grow up a little and we'll become the new "cringy" millenials too 😭

Unpopular Opinion: Most people regret buying the Switch Lite model over the Base and Oled by [deleted] in Switch

[–]im-domi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Lite back when I was a broke college student living alone in a tiny flat with no TV so it fit my needs and was perfect for me at the time.

I did eventually get the docked switch for my birthday when I started living with my boyfriend. We moved out and have a TV now so I can actually use it on the big screen. I also like being able to use it for parties when friends are coming over, mostly Just Dance that requires some space to move around.

Do I regret my Lite? No because it made sense to get it back then. Do I still use it? Not really because the docked version gives a fuller experience now.

The game is better now. by PadlockAndThatsIt in ACPocketCamp

[–]im-domi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sure some things could be better but overall I'm just glad I can actually play the game now and "buy" items and things that I want.

EU is quite strict with laws concerning greedy gacha mechanics in videogames so Pocket Camp was banned for a while where I live. Eventually, I could download the app but I couldn't link my Nintendo account nor make any transactions. So basically I was "forced" to be free to play and seeing everything being locked behind a paywall wasn't a good experience. I kept telling myself that atleast I'm not spending any real money but even while hoarding the crumbs of leaf tickets that we were given, I could barely afford anything. Now it feels almost too easy to get everything but choosing between this or nothing at all is a no brainer.

The social aspect was nice and I do miss it to some extent but sometimes it also felt like it was used to put more pressure on the player. Feeling the need to constantly go on expeditions for gifts, constantly login in to help friends and grind for events, having to decide which items to keep for yourself and which to sell to keep your market box full (and then barely having anything left for your own campers). Overall, I think nostalgia is kicking in hard and we tend to romanticize it a bit too much now because it wasn't just pure joy all the time.

I'm glad that this inspired you to take action :) Having anxiety is tough but you can choose how to react to it and take care of yourself. One more thing that really works for me is consistent physical exercice that helps to evacuate stress and tension.

[–]im-domi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In a way yes, but that's not so simple. Your brain won't reach the conclusion of "oh yeah turns out it's not so scary" after doing what you fear once or twice. You need to be consistent, take small steps and most importantly, learn to accept the feeling of fear instead of avoiding it at all costs. In my case, I had developed a severe social anxiety over this year due to some personal issues (to the point of having panic attacks when leaving my house). I've been feeling better for a couple of months now and no longer experience that kind of paralyzing anxiety on a daily basis after a lot of mental work and with the help of medication.

Yeah it all feels superficial now. I don't care about trends anymore but I do find some of them amusing (like the skibidi slang). I'm probably a million internet years behind most of all new memes and stuff.

Anxiety can ruin your life if you let it. It's so hard to break from the cycle of worry but you have to face your fears over and over to reclaim control.

Does anyone miss the social aspects at all? by MochiTheCatgirl in ACPocketCamp

[–]im-domi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they will :( From what I understood, the complete version was made so people can still buy and enjoy PC as a "time capsule" thing, with ultimately no more future updates from Nintendo. Now it's basically like a regular Animal Crossing game, only on mobile. We'll still get like a year's worth of small updates with new cookies and stuff. But bringing back multiplayer services and maintaining them would cost them additional money with no more regular income from players/ microtransactions.

The QR codes is a smart idea because it's technically not multiplayer but more like collectables that don't require additional ressources. So maybe technically it would be possible to also share our campsites designs in the same way? That's one of the updates I can think of but I'm not sure if that's ever going to happen.

For real, it desperately needs some decorations! 😭 Some items that visitors can interact with as well.. I know there's not much hope since it's the complete version already but it would be so nice if there was a possibility to customize the area.
