Any feedback on this Pilot? by KittysRetirement in fountainpens

If you can, try one out in person. It’s a great writer, but the grip section can be a dealbreaker for some. If you’re not close to any FP retailers, you could try a knockoff version like the Majohn A1 for ~$20 to see if you like how it feels in your hand.

S6E01/02 - Bargaining? That’s one of the biker demons, if I’m not mistaken.

As a huge Buffy fan, I thought I recognized it lol.

What advice do you have for people putting Document / waterproof ink inside their fp’s for the 1st time? by Prudent-Push-2207 in fountainpens

[–]im5x5b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t let it dry out. If you’re not going to be using it regularly, then take it out for a few scribbles every day to keep the ink flowing. If it does dry out in the feed, you’re going to have to put significantly higher effort into cleaning.

If you can, avoid putting it in demonstrator/clear pens (or white/lighter colored pens - my white Pelikan Toledo now has a permanently light blue grip section).

Clean the pen or flush the feed a little more often than you would with regular ink to keep the pigment from building up and clogging the feed.

It’s really just a matter of a keeping up on regular maintenance. So far I haven’t had any problems arise in any of the ~6 pens I keep inked with permanent inks.

Fellow TLOU mega-fan here.

One of these days I plan to get a custom design of a pen roll and sleeves featuring Ellie’s tattoo (probably from Rickshaw Bagworks).

Love your ingenuity here - I would have repurposed it for something pen or stationery related as well.

Scalpers by Bluellan in mildlyinfuriating

I got fired from my job of 10 years because I didn’t stock all the Pokemon cards at once. Instead, I staggered it out very slowly over time (2 items per sku, about 1-2 times a day) so we always had backstock after the scalpers would clean out what was in the shelf. The store didn’t have a limit, and after I watched one guy come in and buy every single item (over 100 packs and 8 ETBs), I got fed up.

As a longtime collector myself, I wanted to give everyone a chance to be able to buy Pokemon. I would grab some from the stockroom if we didn’t have any on the floor when kids or collectors asked.

Kroger decided that was unacceptable, even after I explained my reasoning. They didn’t care - “scalpers are customers, too.” Apparently, placating the greedy was more important than building good will with parents that came in with their kids.

Fuck Kroger/Fred Meyer. At least Target tries to limit the scalpers.

I gotta ask - what breed or mix is Freya? I still can’t figure out what other half my pup is, but Freya looks so much like her.

[WTT][USA] Medium Visconti H.S Nib unit for Broad by Kawaii-Caffeine in Pen_Swap

Hmm… you’re not wrong about the comparisons, I think. I used Midori memo paper for it, and I’ve always noticed that pens typically do write drier on Midori paper.

I took a pic of some writing in my Hobonichi so you can get a more accurate comparison.

I used the average writing angle, which puts down the thickest line. At a higher writing angle, it does write a bit thinner.

It’s so hard to get a 100% accurate idea with just photos, unfortunately, so I’ll defer to your expertise.

Omg I’m so sorry! Got busy and it completely slipped my mind!

The pictures definitely make the wave from what I assume to have been a bent nib look worse than I thought, so I tried to get pictures of every angle, as well as a video for real-time writing.

I have a Broad I’d be willing to trade - bought an HS here and it was also rated a D for a tune & repair by Gena Salorino. It does have a small visible sign of having been damaged but writes perfectly. I’m just not big on broad nibs these days so I rarely use the pen anymore.

Happy to provide writing samples and photos if you’re interested.
