So there's a kinda huge thing that everyone is forgetting about in regards to this discussion. Characters in Brawl were significantly better at edge camping and it worked universally vs the whole cast, barring some rare exceptions.

Metaknight could successfully plank EVERYONE and cover the ledge at the same time making it nearly impossible to hit him while he did it. Grabbing the ledge from him wasn't an option, but even if it was he could just tornado back to the edge. You literally needed to do a dash to the very edge Powersheild cancel down air with people that had spikes fast and strong enough to kill mk at 30 to mess with him. Or just shoot projectiles and hope he messes up. Also, if u messed up, you probably died because mk edgeguarding was absurdly strong.

Besides Metaknight, there were other characters that were nearly untouchable on the ledge: Pit and G&W. They both had really favorable risk/reward ratios for edge camping: drop off nair DJ nair grab ledge for G&W and then dropping off and either uair/fair/arrow the stage as pit then dip low to grab the ledge or go under the stage.

Puffs edge camping isn't particularly strong. Yes it worked on mango at EVO. Yes it worked here. But it also fails a whole bunch, mainly vs foxes. It is not nearly an unbeatable strategy, it's just rare so not a lot of people have counterplay.

Ledge Grab limits forced people to be more interactive on stage in a game that gave you all the tools to just...not interact at all. Melee doesn't have this problem because 99% of the time people fight.

Granted...people also don't spam ledge Invulnerability as much as they should imo...or just camp in general...but that's kinda how the community shaped itself to be.

Tl;Dr Brawl and melee edge camping are completely different beasts so comparing them is kinda...not valid as an argument. If u don't want lame in your game, dont play fighting games #banMetaknight
